Friends and people already known to be trusted, are less likely to back-stab and be corrupted. It's harder to hurt a friend than a stranger, and someone who has gained trust isn't going to waste the trust on 1 scam.

While newer members without any friendship ties with the staff, or trust from the market, might scam without any regrets because they aren't invested in the site as much.

    It's really simple.
Just Imagine yourself owning a business.

Now, would you rather have an inexperienced worker that needs room to fail and time to learn the ropes?

Or, would you rather have an experienced worker who has done the job before and has proven to be a good worker?

yes you have raised a valid point but you all have to start somewhere and im sure when you became a moderator at first you made mistake like i did when i was a admin and a forum mod on gamebattles it just happens but you learn from your mistakes and it helps you become a better person and and in most cases better at your job. I feel that sometimes you need fresh blood in to make things go better and its also to have a good mix of both so the mods with more experiance can shaddow the new mods ect ect .

Everyone does start from bottom...but, why would you chose someone from the bottom, when there are perfectly fine members with previous Sythe.org modding experience.
Picking people who you don't know or trust could bring in some great mods, but at the same time we could also pick out Sigex's.

It doesn't make sense to take up extra risk.

Very valid point. Job ads often contain "Experience preferred/required" irl, so why shouldn't it apply here? Less likely to end up bad.

I think you might have trouble admitting you're wrong on this one.

Basically all they are saying is they would rather take a user with more activity, time, and reputation rather than someone new, who might in fact,
    actually be a genuine person.

But the facts behind it are that someone who seems genuine only maintain their reputation for a certain period of time.

They want to see someone who is consistent with it for a period of time rather than 6 months.

If that's how everyone sees it, then so be it. I wont argue against the fact that they have more experience and such, but it still seems a bit unfair to me. They've had chances to become experienced, while everyone else has not. I said what I though I needed to say and that's all I can ask for, since this was feedback and not a suggestion. Once (if) I come up with a way to solve this issue, I'll be back. Until then, I see everyone's points and a majority of them made sense, it was just a question of fairness to me.

That doesn't mean that regular members have no chance at all to become part of Sythe staff, just remain helpful and active, and you will be recognized.

God I hate it when people use the 2 cents line....

Tribal was good in graphics, there was like 1 graphics mod at the time, and he was good/helpful inn the section.
Pen said it himself, he became mod after 2 months. Maybe their looking for something they want us to find out.
Yes, but the problem is, they don't show that you are recognized. Like if someone was nominated for mod, and was turned down, they would never know.
    Not true whatsoever.

^The only way that what Xjaa is saying is wrong would be if you thought the current mods were incompetent. Do you think that? If not, why do you care how they are chosen if you have no interest in being one?

I do think a few of them are incompetent. And for the second part of the question, I think I'll let you finish reading my post. If you still don't get it, I'm sorry for you on so many levels...

Well I wish there were more outside staff promotions but it's all good, maybe a memeber of the month or something would be sweet.

'Hi, I'm jealous that there are perfectly good/efficient staff members, because I want to be one. Therefore I've made a thread to complain about the perfectly good/efficient staff members.'
