Swapping names...

Let's say I had a really rare account name, but the account itself is rubbish. Then, I have an account that has a horrible name, but has alot of cash or stats.

Can I possibly swap the names of the accounts?

^ There it says it's impossible to swap names, but I'm not seeing how it can be that hard. My thinking is this:

1) on the Rare Account Name, I change the name to anything
2) I wait 28 days + the 7 days required to lose the name forever
3) On the Horrible Account Name, I change the name to the Rare account Name after the 7 days, keeping it forever.

Not sure if that made any sense, but yeah, I'm sure I made my point. So what's up? Will this work?

I'm not sure, but if there's a 7-day window for a truly rare name to be lost, then it will be lost.

 

Your idea will work as long as nobody takes it before you.

What I'm saying is this..

I change the rare account name to anything. Then, after a certain amount of time, the RARE name is up for grabs by ANYONE. But... since I know the day and time when the account will be ready, I can get it and put it on my account.

 

Possibly...but it's sort of risky don't cha say? mabye you should try it on two not so important accounts. :x just a suggestion

Yeah, it would work. But be sure to write down what time you change the display name so you can be on when the name becomes available or someone else will take it

It sounds possible, but a big risk to take. I wouldn't do it without testing it first.

I need something else answered...

When you guys change your names on Runescape.... after the 28 days, does it tell you how long you have until you lose it? Does it have a warning saying... 'You have exactly: 1 day until you lose the name forever!' or something like that? Much appreciated.

 

Well, it didn't say anything to me and i changed my name like 31 days ago.

Just change the name and tell the name to me, ill keep it secret :noworry:

 

If the rare name is the name that you created the account with then you can't change it no matter what because that's the login name. If the rare name is one that you had changed when the display name change came out then you can switch it to your preferred account. And no it doesn't tell you how many days you have left.
