    Introduction

Dota is an expansion of Warcraft 3- the frozen throne. It can be played online in game hosts. I, myself have been playing Dota for a year and i realised that it is actually a game that requires a lot of teamwork in order to win. Skill and strategy also plays an important role in this game.

    Definitions

Dota- The misconception of dota is that it is a game. In fact, dota is a custom made map that is created by icefrog.
Deny- Denying is a very common sighting in the gameplay of dota. It gives the opponent lesser exp by denying your own creeps.
Minimap- In every game, there is a minimap at the bottom left of the screen. This gives you a birds eye, simplified view of the map.

    Where to get it

To get dota, the map, simply go to getdota.com and download the latest map available. As for the game hosts, I personally prefer Garena as it has the most number of people play dota in it and has game rooms for each country.

    Heros

    [IMG] (gamerenkei.blogspot.com)

Each hero has unique abilities and spells. Some heros attack faster than others. These heros are called DPS heros, which is none other than Damage Per Second heros. Others are strength heros that are supposed to assist your teammates in tanking the opponent's damage. Lastly, there are they intelligence heros. These people spam spells whenever they can, this is because they are supposed to have an unlimited source of mana.

    Game-play

At the start, the game will begin to load:

After that, you pick your characters in the taverns below. The 3 taverns on the top right are for intelligence heros. The one in the bottom is the ones for the strength heros. The ones on the top left are the ones for agility heros.

Then, after 2 mins, creeps will spawn in your base and start walking to their respective lanes. The creeps are boxed up in the picture. This is when it is early game.

Mid-game, there will be people trying to net as many kills as possible so as to ensure a win on their team. Here, i am killing an enemy in mid game. When you have killed that enemy, a message will pop up saying that you have pwned the enemy's head off. If you are the first one to kill, there will be a message saying that you drew the first blood.

Late game. Usually at this stage, the heros will be trying to kill each other's tower, heading for the throne, at the same time getting some kills.

Throughout the course of the game, there will be runes spawning at these 2 areas. The runes help players a lot. This includes full health regeneration over time, extremely fast move speed and invisibility.

There will also be creatures called neutral creeps:

    Strategy

Some people play support, means you buy all the items that will help your teammates. Or you can play ganker, means your whole team goes and gank a enemy hero or you can play solo. Most solo players are agility as they deal the most damage late game and is a very good carry. Carry is a hero that solo kills the whole of the other team. Blocking creeps at the start is important as your objective is to get your creeps as close to your tower as possible. This is to ensure that you have space for earning money. Taking runes regularly is good also as with these power-ups, you can kill the enemy faster. Staying with your teammates most of the time is advised as dota is a team game and the team with the most teamwork will win.

Heres wishing all dota players the best of luck!

I am aware that WoW guides are not allowed. However, this is not exactly WoW. Dota is a totally different game.

This is a nice guide with a lot of pictures. I have a guide on this. I have things that you don't, and you have things that I don't. If you would want, we can pm each other and create a mega-guide for DOTA if you're interested.

Ahh.. A lot of people began to play this game in my class, didn't know it was just another Warcraft game lol. I probably won't play this. I used to cheat in Frozen Throne offline :)

Why would you leave without any items pots or anything, you would be paper soft then.

Early game, you should block the creeps on your lane so that it can draw the enemy closer to your tower and they would make a long run if you are chasing them.

Also at your late game build, what would you build with those items 3 tarrasque's? That's not recommendable.

This is a well thought out guide, with pictures, a good topic and great context. I applaud the obvious effort that went into this guide. I like the use of pictures and how you've labeled different things in them, and then further explained what you've outlined in the picture. You've also used proper grammar, which is always nice to see in guides. However, for next time, make sure you elaborate a bit more and there were certain aspects of DOTA that you left out.

    Overall a great guide.
