How to get Widescreen & High Quality Camtasia Settings

Hey there.
In this guide I will be showing you how to get the best quality settings for your youtube videos. I will also be showing you how to make them widescreen.

~ How to record in HIGH DEFINITION ~

1. You want to open up Camtasia Studio.

2. You wanna click the "Record Button" so we can adjust your recording settings and change them into setting that will give you the best quality recordings.



3. Next you wanna go ahead and click "Tools" then "Options." Here we are going to change the settings so bare with me.



4. Here I'm going to explain each tab and which ones you will need to go to.

4.1 First Tab: The first tab is the "Capture" tab and all we need to do here is make sure that the "Save as .avi" is checked, you don't want it checked as "Saved as .camrec"



4.2 Second Tab: The second tab is the "Video" tab and here we will be changing a few things.

First go ahead and change the "Video Configuration" to "Manual" Make sure it's not checked next to "Automatic"

Next we wanna change the FPS. (frames per second) Go ahead and change your FPS (frames per second) to 30.



After this is done just press okay and your done here.


~ How to render the video in HIGH DEFINITION ~

1. First drag the video you just recorded into the timeline at the bottom.

2. After you finish dragging your video to the timeline the "Project Settings" window will pop up. Here you wanna go down and choose the "Custom" dropdown box and choose the "Recording Dimensions" option then click okay.



3. After you finish step 2 go ahead to the top left corner of the screen and click "File" then go down and choose the "Produce video as" option.



4. On the first screen you wanna choose the "Custom production settings" option and then click next.



5. On the next window you wanna choose the "MOV" (Quicktime) Option and then click next.



6. On the next window we wanna click "Quicktime Options" found on top.



7. On the next window you wanna click the "Settings" option under the "Video" area.



8. once you click settings these are the settings you should have:

Compression Type: H.264

Frame Rate: 30 FPS

Key Frames: Automatic

Quality: Best

Encoding: Doesn't matter

Data Rate: Automatic



9. Now you wanna change the sound settings so click ok for the video settings and click "Settings" under the sound area.



Here we wanna change:

Compresser: mp4a

Rate: 48.000

Size: 16 Bit

Use: Stereo




10. After this is done just click ok and you will be back to the "Produce video as" part so you can just click next and do whatever you want from there.
