I see Casino Royale as an influence, but the idea isn't really all that similar. In Casino Royale they were betting against the stock, not investing in it. The thing is you have to think about supply and demand. Its like gold rings for instance, its a worthless item and has no real use. The only people who buy this item are merchanters. So basically if you are buying something cheap (which is usually worthless, or has little value to the public) the only people that would be buying it would be other people investing in it. Do you see my point? When you would dump the item, so would everyone else which means no one would be buying it and you wouldn't get any money from it. Not only that, you wouldn't make billions because the item could only be influenced so much. Not only that, you would have to invest in an item thats EXTREMELY hard to get, which all cheap items are EXTREMELY easy to get. Otherwise everyone will just keep getting the items and the price won't rise. It was a good idea, just too many flaws.
