How they scammed: First off and foremost, let me get to the very bottom of this situation.
Age#5002 was the current service provider for a friend of mine who needed services. The service provider has finished the service as mentioned. BUT, until this happen.... Take in mind; This email linked to the Runescape account has NEVER been compromised or has it been used on anything else. It' a spam email and had gotten a email from a fake jagex ( phishing ) link. I'm sure that is what it is, don't quote me! I did some research on google and this is what I had found.. Something on reddit shows me completely different and shows the moral of the story.

So… you got a phishing email, and it happened to be after you received services, so must be our fault?

Only person with credentials who would know your email to “phish” you had to phish to get the credentials for the account he’d already been playing on….

Let me explain again for you @Exxistential. This email linked is the same login email as the OSRS account that had services completed. This email has been created for over 2 months and was never an issue until now. Once your worker [Age#5002] was finished, this is the email that was received. I'm not directly reporting you, but reporting your discord on behalf of my buddy. Things don't happen like this, unless and email was given out. Again, the email is not associated to ANYTHING else and all of the sudden got an email from somebody trying to Phish. It's unfair how others have to worry about these things. I'm sure we both know, others aren't inclined in this area of things. You should probably hire workers who are honest and not out to get people.

Just a FYI for you. I'm done here and will leave it up to the staff team. You can deny and deny all you want, but there is no need for this to be a lie.

While we are here, so as to avoid setting another ridiculous precedence of anonymity behind the whole “not me, but a friend” schtick, can you tag your friend’s Sythe and provide their discord name?

And since you are now involved, can you provide your discord username as well, for accountability?

 

Not a problem. I'll be sure to leave those details below. As in response to what you said on your reply, what kind of precautions are others going to need to take when these sorts of things occur ? As a client; They shouldn't have to worry about an issue of this sort.
Again, I am hoping you don't have involvement to this. If you don't, it was [Age#5002] himself and whoever else was in on it.
This needs to be addressed and be heard. From my understanding, a trade should never conducted like this at the very ending. It's basically like "Oh hey, service finished!" with a little "Wink Wink" on the end.. As in the service provider finishing just to initially scam.

As for precautions, I’d suggest they avoid anything that caches or saves info. Avoid cookies, Google Chrome, the Internet, etc.

Since all of your data is always for sale online, I’d just suggest they take the precaution of avoiding computers and electronics entirely.

There are a lot of things in public areas that may be electronic, so for these people, I’d also probably suggest they move to a rural area of some sort.

I hope these tips are helpful with avoiding common things on the internet, like phishing attempts!

You are joking with me, correct? This is not about "Selling information" on the web / avoiding cookies / google chrome / the internet. This is regarding one of your workers or maybe even yourself included? The information provided on your end, what does that have to do with this case? Nothing at all, so please stop. Read over everything given and please understand our point of view. Quite upsetting something like this had happen. Somebody who is gullible enough to believe your response, fine. Myself and my friend, no.

There's a million ways your friend's email could have ended up on a spam list, and the least likely of which is that a worker, who had full access to the account, wanted access to the account.

I am, by all means, serious that you should leave the internet if this is THAT confusing to you...
