I think that the threads in the Report a Spammer section should be assigned to a moderator / global moderator.

    Something like this -

Person 1 posts - loool niceee acc budy

Person 2 reports that person for spamming the thread.

Assuming they use the report post button, and formatted the topic correctly, the thread would get assigned to a moderator or global moderator.

I think that moderator should than receive some kind of update, saying that they have a spam thread assigned to them that needs to be taken care of.

Also - any moderator would be able to go in and answer numerous spam reports that were assigned to anyone. And still get the mod log so they are credited for their activity (or at least recognized for doing it).

    Thanks.
    Charlie.

This is pretty much how it is now, minus the notifications which I don't think are a good idea.

The mods would just ignore them. Plus, not everyone can do everything. Plus. If anyone can still do them. What is the point?

    The section is clean.
    Look at it.
There is rarely any at all and if it assigns it to someone, What if they never look at it?
    Then it just sits there.
    Nothing happens.

Would you clarify on your point?

I think I get the concept but still don't see the point in it.

Actually, spam reports are voluntary, not actually a required aspect of any staff member. Really, they have no incentive to do it except the sole purpose of self-satisfaction and/or filling up his/her mod/admin logs (which ultimately, but slowly, leads to a promotion).

When reported there are already Moderators assigned for that section to the report. However, those Mods do not investigate them particularly, as there are Sectionals/Globals that take care of the post reported instead.

In my opinion, anything deemed as spam/flame or that which breaks the rules should be infracted and the post deleted. The only reason of the section is to report spammers, and what's the point of reporting the spam if it isn't deleted? The spam still exists.

In effect, certain Moderators would need to be assigned to such reports so that the posts could be deleted, but it doesn't seem to be of concern at this present time. For that reason I believe that things should stay as is, as the section is attended to quite well, and has been kept clean off and on for some time.

    Kudos to the Staff.

It's fine how it is now. As long as moderators remain active then the section should stay clean.

I don't support, the notifications would just get annoying if you ask me. The mods handle the Report a Spammer section brilliantly as it is.
