    How to memorize the Qur'an

    This is a hard guide.

What makes me qualified to do this guide?

    1. I'm a hafiz and I memorized the entire Qur'an
    2. I spent 5 years memorizing and perfecting the Qur'an
    3. I have a Diploma.

    4. Think you can't do it? Think again, I started when I was 9 and finished when I was 12.

    What is the Qur'an?

    Here is an example:

The Qur'an is the holy book that Muslims have just like the Christians have the bible.

    TAKEN FROM WIKI: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qur'an

    What's in the Qur'an?

There are about 700-900 pages. (maybe less maybe more depending on how big the words are in the book but the average is 700ish)

There are 30 chapters in the Qur'an.

There are 114 Surahs (Sections) in the Qur'an.

There are 6,666 verses in the Qur'an.

There are about 80,000 words in the Qur'an. (Yes I memorized them all)

Now remember, the following are tips from me to you since I memorized the Qur'an and I can tell you things from my experience.

    How to memorize the Qur'an?

If you wanna listen to this:

    1. Before memorizing the Qur'an you wanna first memorize the arabic alphabet and make sure that you can read the Qur'an. You wouldn't memorize an English book if you couldn't read English now would you?

    2. Schedule is a very important thing. I spent 5 years of my life going to a full time class form 8 in the morning to 6 in the evening to memorize it and it took me 3 years to do it.

In order for you to memorize the Qur'an you need to set yourself a schedule.

    Example:

Monday - I will memorize this much.
Tuesday - I will memorize this much.

    3. Memorizing is very easy if you can read Arabic. The way I did it was I would memorize one or two words read them over and over and when I'm fully sure that I know them I would move on to the next 2 words. After I move on to the next 2 words I would go back and read the first 2 words and the next 2 words together without looking to see if I remembered them, if I didn't then I would practice some more.

As you go on and you know more and more it will be easier and easier to memorize the Qur'an.

    4. Whatever you memorize won't stay in your head after you finish memorizing, you have to recite what you memorized at least once a day.

If you memorized 3 chapters you would wanna recite maybe 1 chapter to a friend or parent and then move on to memorizing. You always wanna recite what you memorized so it gets stuck in your head.

    5. Reviewing is very very important when you memorize any part of the Qur'an. If you memorize something and you don't review/recite it you will forget it quickly.

There are 30 chapters and if you know all 30 like me you should read about 3-4 a day at least. It only takes 20 minutes to read one chapter.

    6. There are some parts that may be harder then other but don't give up, you can do it.

    7. Don't let the 80,000 words intimidate you, there are only 2000 words in the Qur'an. Some words repeat a few times and are put in different orders which is why the more you know the easier it becomes.

    8. Study with more people, find other people that want to memorize because when you memorize with other people it becomes easier and the environment is much much better.

    9. Try memorizing 3-4 lines minimum per day, if you do this you can memorize the whole Qur'an in maybe 5-6 years?

What are some tips you can give me?

    1. After you memorize recite to another person, don't recite it to yourself because you may not know when you are making a mistake but the other person will know and they can correct you.

    2. When you memorize don't sit around the TV/Computer or anything that will distract you, you will find it hard to memorize when are thinking about other things.

    3. When you memorize and you realize that you are having the same mistake over and over again mark that mistake with a pen so you can give it special attention.

    4. REVIEW, if you don't review anything you memorize will go in vain, you will forget everything that you memorized.

Hope this guide helped, if you have any questions let me know and I will help you. If you know how to read Arabic and you really want to learn some small surahs in the Qur'an let me know, I can teach you over skype or something.

Very nice guide. Liked the videos. This is a lot better than your 'just video' guides. Loved the video at the end; shows how much you've improved.

    How to memorize the Qur'an

    Two questions:

    Why only the Qur'an?
What are your views of Judaism and Islam, seeing as Judaism gave birth to Islam.

    Good guide, too.

    How to memorize the Qur'an

I meant why not say "How to memorize a bible"

Yes, it did. Brush up on your history. Muhammad essentially created a reformation of judaism, expecting the Jews to accept it as it was originally less demanding than Judaism; they didn't, obviously. At this point, because they didn't accept it, Muhammad began to hate the Jews, and that's why there are commands in the Qur'an to kill the Jews.

Ever wonder why it's so similar to Judaism?

    Also, concerning the guide:

    How to memorize the Qur'an

Why would I memorize the bible? I'm Muslim, I'll stick with the Qur'an.

Muslims believe that Jews and Christians had the same god. We believe in Moses and Jesus as prohpets, nothing more. Judaism didn't give birth to Islam. Moses came to the Jews with the same message as Jesus and Mohammed. Over time the Jews or Christians twisted their religions and added their own things, and each time a people would do that God would send another prophet.

I'm not here to talk about religions, that's for MSN.

    How to memorize the Qur'an

Alright, well, I'll add you. As well, you still don't understand what I said. The majority of sythe is not Muslim. If you want to be less exclusive, you should say "a bible", because this essentially applies to any bible.
