    Can Ipod Touches (1G) be traced through Wi-Fi?

    By the people, cops, government, etc?

    I'm hearing different answers. ): help?

    Yes. Whatever Wi-fi you are connected to can be traced and they can see your address, the name of the person who owns it, and probably alot more.

    Question on traceable...

    You honestly think that the gov't would allow something to be made that they couldn't track or control? Plus, what good is Wi-Fi if it's off? And if you connect, do something and then turn it off. Then you reconnect, I bet they could see a correlation there.

    Where did you find that anyway? Wikipedia?

    That means that when you connect you are given a private IP.... Just like any home network. Anyone can still trace your public IP to the network, and if they keep logs on the network they can find out who had the private IP at a certain time, figure out it was a ip and may be able to trace you like that... >_>.

    But why do u care?
