How to avoid paypal scam???!!!

Yersterday, i trade with someone from sythe by paypal. he send money as gift to me first, then i trade items with him. after trade,he got his money back almost instantly. i dont know why, and this happened many time, i lost almost 200USD from paypal scam. how can i do to prevent scam??
i have tried gift and claim and cancel. but all cant prevent paypal scam.

He charged back and claimed his money back. If he paid you with a paypal funded by a credit card, he can just call up his credit card company and say someone stole my credit card and say he did not make these transactions. The card company will then reverse the transactions. I think this is basically how they claim money back. So if you ever use paypal again:

1. Make sure they have a verified paypal account

2. Unless they are trusted, only trade with people whose paypal is bank funded, NOT credit card funded

3. Make them claim+cancel. This means they open a dispute to claim their money back, then they cancel it so they cannot open another dispute to claim their money back in the future.

4. Call them to verify the paypal belongs to them and isnt stolen.

Edit: and sorry you got scammed, i know the feeling =(. but dont give up, there are still plenty of legit/trustworthy people around on sythe.

how u know people`s paypal is bank funded or credit card funded?
from their payment?

 

Basically what Aolou said and also try to trade with more trusted people (ex. no leechers/members)

Not sure to find out about the other person's bank whether it is bank or credit card funded

Just got scammed by the same member, please make a scam report when you have time.

 

Even if u trade a trusted member , he can scam you..

 

*sigh*... There's absolutely no way to avoid that using direct methods of payment via PayPal. Any payment can be claimed as "unauthorized dispute" which will automatically almost always, result in the person who filed the claim, to get a reversal.

That's just an evil of PayPal that's unavoidable. But hey, you can't even be sure he filed the unauthorized dispute anyways , his funds could have went into negative and all of the funds he sent will be reversed, regardless of status or delivery...

 

how he send money when negative paypal balance? is it possible?
