Remove : Introductions

I love on a forum when I go to post my 1st thread as an introduction. I also love to see people reply and welcome me. This somewhat tells me that the forum is very friendly and I should have a good experience with the forum.

What I don't like, is when I make an introduction post and it gets 4 views, at most, and then no replies. Even if it isn't regular members replying, the staff should at least make an effort to make new members feel welcomed.

If the staff and other members of the forum are not going to welcome new members, what is the point of an introduction section?

I suggest that it is removed since it does not get much use as only the new member posts there and does not get a reply.

Sorry to be debbie downer over here but it just doesnt seem to have use on sythe.

 

There are new members every day on Sythe. Just because there are more views than replies, doesn't mean that you're not welcomed. You should feel welcomed because someone actually saw this thread.

I don't support this at all. Introductions/farewells needs to stay.

 

Sometimes people don't feel the need to post or they don't have anything to contribute.

Also, all (if not, 99.9%) of threads have more views than and replies. Just sometimes people don't feel the need to say anything.

 

I never said to remove farewells. Those I believe should stay. But still I don't ever see people welcoming each other on here. I understand every forum should have this section but its not really being utilized here.

When welcoming a member, what is there not to contribute? A simple "Hello and welcome to Sythe.org" is all it takes to make someone feel welcomed.

 

It Also depends on what Time you post, I always Find it better to post in the mrning Because thats When more people are on sythe.

 

Members like to create Intro/Farewell threads whether we make room for them or not. The section was created to keep such threads from leaking into other sections (Community General, Off Topic, etc).

The reason replies/views are low is that so many of the threads are the generic "Hi everyone, I'm new. Cya," and posting the same welcome message 50 times a week has to get old (and amounts to spam + infractions anyway). I agree that the section is dead, but it serves it's primary function - keeping Intro spam in one place - quite well.

 

If staff were to buisy welcomeing new people, they would have no time left to deal with the real problems on sythe XD
