"I've been a member for 3yrs, so you go first"

    Hello everyone!
I've recently been seeing people say " I've been here for 2-4 years already, I wouldn't scam after such time so you go first " and all that.
    What's the problem with that?
I checked most of these people's very first post, most of them were made in 2008 or 2009.

    So what is my suggestion?
I actually have more suggestions about this:
    1) deleting 0 post, inactive whatsoever accounts.
    Why?
Because I see there are at least a thousand accounts which were made in 2006 or 7 whatsoever and are only waiting for the right date to be able to start spamming then say "I've been here for long."

    2) deleting join dates
    Why?
This would make it impossible for people to try and scam with their join dates which 99% of the time is fake.

This may seem like a completely shitty suggestion, but I think it shall be considered.
    thanks

Deleting join dates is a no no.

Falling for possible scams such as that depends you each person...and how desperate you are in the black market and of course, scam is part of black markets.

Your thing is a unique situation...and you already have solution! If they joined in 2004 and made first post in 2009, just say it to them..."seems like you made your account for scamming, cause u didnt make any posts inbetween, so lets get an OMM"

"I've been a member for 3yrs, so you go first"

Why is this thread being spammed so badly on... None of you are even helping the suggestion..

I believe both are not really necessary as you have to completely dumb to try to use join date as a fall back for not scamming. If you dont trust them then don't. I'm sure if you use your brain for just a second =] you will notice that let's me for instance, I've been here since Jan 07 and i said you go first. what you COULD do is ask some staff, check my vouches ask around at the OLDER people if I am trustworthy, and then base your decision.

Base it on what YOU think, not what I SAY. =]

I found having the join date made it easier to decide whether you should go first or not.

I agree with deleting inactive accounts with 0 to around 25 posts. Usually they just get sold to scammers or people create a ton of accounts and wait for them to age. However, I don't want the join date removed because it actually does stand for a higher trust level. For exampe, I would trust an active member who joined in 2007 with 3 dollars compared to 0 with accounts made in october 2009. Taking the join date off would just make the people who joined a week ago easily lie and say they joined a year ago. This would also disable the posts per day information which is useful in knowing whose a post whore.

People who have joined in the last 4 months are at least 10 times as likely to be scammers compared to members who have been here longer than 4 months.
I'd go first to someone who has been on Sythe longer than me without a doubt unless it's big amounts of money.

Regardless of post count, join date, etc, it is always upon the other party to decide whether they trust the other person enough to go first. If you don't trust him enough, use an MM.

To your second point, Post count and Join Date are actually good indicators as to whether you should trust another person. You have to measure up what you are risking, against what he is losing if he scams.

No. If they've been here as long as they say they have, they'll have vouches or a similar measure of trust that you can gauge them by.

Deleting inactive users is probably a good idea, but remove join dates isn't. And you could find it out anyways by finding the average posts per day, and dividing it by the post count :p

"I've been a member for 3yrs, so you go first"

I personally have been on sythe for quite some time. My post count is low because I'm not a spammer and only post when trying to help someone unlike many of you above.
When selling my accounts (I have a thread up now) I don't anywhere say "I've been here for 4+ Years you first". I just simply let it be known that "Yeah I've been here for 4+ Years so don't waist your time scamming me." My opinion is if someone wants you to go first and declines the use of an official MM, then you should just say no thanks and bail.
Certain flags should go off for example:
    1) The person denys the use of a OMM
    2) The person wants to go 50/50
    3) The person wants to use a friend as an MM From a different forum
    4) The person wants you first

So in the end, no matter what the join date always use an OMM, Don't trust they're crap about "I joined 4 years ago omg".
There simply is nothing that will solve scamming because they will always find a way.

Honestly i think join dates are important, otherwise you have kids making accounts and getting postcount up to 500 in 2 weeks, and scamming accounts. If you delete join dates, then post count will become more important

But post count is not a measure of trustworthiness and it NEVER will be. Im sure you can find some 1000+ PC'ers who have been banned. Follow your instinct and do what you think is the safest. Removing it is just more due stress on the Staff and isnt necessary as the same methods have proven stable enough. Like I said I've been here for years and I would never refuse an OMM, OR (And let's not forget) a PM, I would simply ask what they would want to do. And I would do research on him as well, and we would both be satisfied.

People get scammed not because there are inactive old accounts, etc, etc. Its just they are new to the scene. Everyone get scammed at least once and then they learn :) (Just like me, I got scammed up to 21M back then when mills were $15 - 20 ea and you can sell em in ebay)
