Anyone Know Anything Bout Door Knobs?

Well I'll start off with, I got locked out of my house last night, and if it was acually MY house it wouldnt be a big deal, but i still live with my mom and she works at night and accidently locked me out, so i kicked down the back door and i put the trim back up, everything back together but now the door is always locked. i took the doorknob off the door, took everything apart and it all works fine until i put it back together then no matter which way i turn the lock thing on the knob its still locked. i dont have a job anymore, dont have any money so i cant xactly just go buy another one... anyone know how to fix this? or is the only way to get a new knob?

Be sure nothing is bent and that u did put it together correctly and in the correct order.

it would be helpful if you posted a picture of the internal workings or discribe the locking mechanism
