Any fighters here?

I find fighting to be quite enjoyable ^_^ I've never done any official fighting like what you guys are talking about (judo and all that crap). What would be a nice class to take as I start out? I am very interested in professional fighting.

depends what you're into really, boxing and muay thai are great striking disciplines and brazilian jiu jitsu is all ground game and submissions.

 

I took karate a few times but that's it. I'm not too much into these things.

 

Well I've been doing Taekwondo for about 5 years, got my first degree brown (1 before black), and I've won plenty of sparring tournaments... but nothing really outside of that. They teach you how to take people out in two seconds, but have I done it?

nope, no need. don't try to get in fights.

All depends really.

Like, Tae-Kwon-Do and those sort of martial arts, you have tournments etc but depending where you live, they might not be that often. And generally in lessons, you just spar with no protective gear, so you aren't allowed to hit hard or anything.

And if your not into kicking, like i got over kicking, i think it's for girls, so i did boxing. With boxing, every lesson you could go in the ring if you wanted to, at least where i trained at anyway.

I'd go with boxing.

But if your into kicking and stuff, you should try out mixed martial arts. Watch the movie 'Never Back Down', they use mixed martial arts.

 

Tae kwon do for 6 years, before I stopped. I guess it's not much to compare with alot of people with varied styles.

 

I don't fight other people generally other than sparring with friends but I am a first degree black belt in American karate and hoping 2 get my next degree this next year. I'm a pretty big guy so I'm more power than speed but I usually surprise people with my speed.

 

I did wrestling in highschool, was pretty good ended up at state and got recruited to wrestle at top name schools. I also have been doing kickboxing + boxing for a couple years. I prefer boxing because it can be deadly and can really be a life or death situation in fights.

Yeah and never would a nicely timed elbow or knee be deadly at all in a street fight, especially when street fights are very dependent on the element of surprise.
