    God and the Afterlife

How do you know there is an afterlife? How do know that there isn't one?

People didn't go around saying that there isn't a planet called the Moon 50 years before it was discovered.

Of course also people didn't go around trying to conform people to their moon cult 50 years before the moon was discovered, but if that occured then people would have responded with saying that there is no such thing as the moon. Both of these claims would be wrong because there is no proof yet that a moon exists and there would never be proof that a moon doesn't exist because the entire universe would have to be mapped out and searched. This is what the debate on God and the afterlife has come down to and we need to quit with our biases and look at God and the afterlife with a clean slate.

There is no physical way to prove if there is or isn't an afterlife, so we have to take an unbiased approach to this topic. I am not trying to prove anything I am just trying to think of the most logical thing that happens after you die.

The problem is that people look at God and the afterlife with a closed mind. God and the afterlife is not even close to being simple and most of us can't even comprehend and imagine it's complexity, and because we can't reach those limits of understanding we believe it is not there. This is why we have to start being more open minded and willing to accept and think about strange new ideas.

First I want to say that the physical world is an illusion. 99% of an atom is empty space. An atom is basically negative and positive energies brought together in a minute solar system and many of these atoms brought together form the illusion of the physical world. Quantum physics has already revealed that the entire universe is a single gigantic field of energy. With dealing with the afterlife, we have to get out of the habit of thinking in terms of the physical world. The frequency range that we live in is so small compared to the entire frequency range, that it would be foolish to think that the physical world is the only thing out there. The idea of a God and afterlife existing as physical things is an impossibility, which is why they would most likely be made out of energy.

When our consciousness wants to walk somewhere, it sends out an electrical signal to our body and makes it move. This means that a consciousness has to exist, since it has a clear effect on the physical world. Since electricity and energy directly affects the physical world, and not the other way around, then there is no way that the consciousness can be a physical thing. The human mind and imagination is not bound by any physical limits or rules, so the only explanation is that it has to be some sort of energy.

From The Law of Conservation of Energy, we know that energy cannot be created or destroyed, but can change its form. So if the human consciousness is energy, then it simply can't "die" like the physical body, it has to carry on after the physical body's death.

So yes, there is in fact an afterlife, but not as most people imagine it to be. The afterlife would be nothing like this life because there would be no physical restrictions. There would be no individuality, no limitations by time and space, and happiness wouldn't be limited by physical attributes. And last but not least, there would be no individuality, you would simply blend into the whole.

"A human being is a part of a whole, called by us _universe_, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest... a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty." -Albert Einstein

How do you know human consciousness is energy?

Why can't it die? It will still be there, it just won't be alive/conscious.

You have some good points, but this conclusion came out of your ass. I agree that the mind is energy and all that, but what makes you think that energy doesn't simply disperse when you die?

There is no burden of proof because it is impossible to prove... so you can take your Russell's teapot and shove it up your ass. Thank you.

Everything in the universe is either energy or matter, and it's obviously not matter...

But why? What is the reason for our existance? Science can always explain how things work, but it will never be able to explain why they work.

If you wanted to raise your hand right now, you could. Did your body make this decision for you? No, it was you. You can control your body and do whatever you want with it. Your consciousness is what tells the cerebral neurons what messages to transmit. Some people even get their bodies to do amazing stunts. Ever heard the term "mind over matter?"

If it's impossible to prove, then it's clearly irrational to believe in. *See Russel's Teapot Analogy.

    You're very welcome.

According to Einstein's Theory of relativity, energy is just a relative state of matter, traveling at the speed of light.

So let's just make up reasons I suppose?

The physical consciousness, not action, is the illusion. You can see on the evolutionary scale how simple organisms gradually "gained" consciousness. There's actually nothing miracular about it.

Your consciousness cannot contemplate what occurs after death because it must exist for such a contemplation to occur. You are using fallacious logic to say that it would even exist.

Energy = Forever. Consciousness = Energy. Conscioness = Forever?

Pig = Animal. Animal = Moose. Pig = Moose?

If there was concrete proof of the after life in 50 years then I suppose it will become fact aswell.

There's no evidence that there's an afterlife. We don't know if there's a Mc Donald's on the other side of the moon, but should we believe it?

You start off by saying "How do people know there is or isn't an afterlife", then you end it with "There is in fact an afterlife" :[. Yes I read it, I just disapprove.

    Agreed.

I think it ends there really, no need to debate on the matter.
