Which operating system? Why?

Which operating System is your favorite? Which one do you use the most?

 

Windows, linux is okay if you understand everything, but the average user will not.

 

Got Win XP/7 on my Macbook and Vista(Home premium)/7/Linux on my xps m1730.

Linux is just as easy as windows, just nobody knows what it is lol. I use windows though, because my stock market software is not compatible with linux.

 

I've used Linux more on my ps3 than I have on PC. The majority of people just download it for the fact of having Linux, honestly.

 

What Linux do you guys use? I use Ubuntu

 

Windows. I've always used it and don't see why it matters which one I use.

That sad I would never touch a mac. "It's not a PC, it's a Mac" is the most annoying sentence in the known universe.

 

Ubuntu is a distribution of Linux built with user functionality in mind. In my eyes, it's useless. It's based on Debian, and Debian is a capable distribution, however Ubuntu is bloated with too many programs that aim to make the user go "oh, that's neat", which as a result wastes disc space and memory.

When I use Linux, it's usually Gentoo, which I build from scratch (which, depending on the processor speed etc, can take well over a day or two). That way I don't waste any disc space, and everything is optimised for my computer because of the build flags I set. Typically a distribution used by developers and servers.

Still, I use Windows Vista for everyday tasks like gaming and study. I'm probably getting Windows 7 soon.

But other then that I like vista and that's what I have on my desktop.

 

Both XP and Vista is what I use.

 

Unfortunately my laptop that I purchased 6 months ago came with vista pre-loaded onto it, i've been too lazy to switch to another though. On my desktop I have xp, as it is easy and simple.


The laptop's that the Australian government have just handed out, all have windows 7 enterprise edition on them. I guess it's good but it's just vista with different menu locations.

Running xp here. I hate that Vista and the likes are so user friendly.

 

Always used windows since like 95 when I was just a little kid so windows is the one for me. No real reason other than Im familiar with it.
Using windows 7 64 bit professional right now and its ok apart from my wireless not working right but I found on windows 7 forum a fix to it =)
At least a temporary fix
Bit like my refusing to buy an xbox cos Ive always stuck with sony apart from the sega megadrive and nintendo ds and wii.

Windows, because none of the others appeal to me.
