Lieing? Why does it happen.

Just simple.. why do people lie.

 

People lie to get what they want, or what they want to happen.

 

Humans are selfish, simple as that, they lie to get what they want, succeed in what they want and they don't care who they lie to most of the time.

 

I think sometimes its more of a defense mechanism, your deep in the hole and the first thing you think of is blaming someone/thing else for what you did.

 

Because despite what you're told as a child, lying does get you somewhere.

 

Lying.

It's taking advantage of the trust some people have in each other for personal gain. It's easy and may get you far if people trust you. But it certainly will not last and when you are discovered you always find that it was never worth it.

 

That's propaganda. I've burned myself by telling the truth plenty of times. It isn't always the best.

 

My mom told me that there are always less consequences for telling the truth.

It's not true. Lying in most cases can cause much less trouble and arguments. Sometimes I even wonder if lying really is the wrong the to do.

 

That's why I said, "when you are discovered"

 

I'm not talking about being discovered, but telling the truth in the first place.

 

There are many reasons to lie.
~To biuld a false belief
~To have others discover religion
~To get what you want
~to set something up
~To establish false fact
~To inflict harm

 

I think you forgot "To save your own ass"

 

heheheh yes but that only works if the person you are bs'ing has common sense or not. Because lately it gets harder :/

 

So people get their way and to hide the truth.

 

It's sometimes easier to lie than to tell the truth, and often is better than telling the truth

 

For enjoyment.

 

lieing creates conflict, it always does.

 

Even in the cases where it quite obviously averts conflict?

 

Lying doesn't always create conflict. In many cases it avoids conflict.

 

I don't see how this makes for much of a debate. I could explain the chemical process that happens in the brain, and under what circumstances, if you'd like.
