    Hello Sythe,

I'm here to talk to you about 1 thing:

Posting on topics that have already been answered.

Take a look at the most common places where inquiries and trivial questions occur:

    Runescape General
    Help & Requests
    General Discussion
    Blackmarket Lounge

I'm guaranteeing you that 9/10 of each question in the section have already been answered while more people post useless information that just basically paraphrase the other statements.

I was hoping that we could implement some M.O.D plugin that would allow people to see which topics have been answered so they wouldn't post in every damn thread to get post count.

It's annoying when you ask something like "what is 20+1" and someone answers 21 followed by a large number of members posting answers like "twenty-one". It's pointless and they're just trying to be helpful but it's really pointless!

I understand that some topics might not be fully answered with the first answer/response but feel the need to implement this to stop a large portion of spam in our community...

    Thoughts?

I'm confused as to what you plan on doing to stop these types of thread? I totally agree with you as to the issue. I may have read through this too fast, but your idea seems unclear. Would you mind explaining in more detail please?

I was thinking if we could add a MOD plugin to the vBulletin that allows topics to be closed for posting upon questions being answered so people would stop post counting...

    Some flaws.

    -Who would lock the thread?
-If it was locked because it was answered, would answers have been answered in the way the OP wanted them to be?
-If it was locked by mods, there would be a huge workload for all the sectionals.
-If it was locked by OP, how would he know how to lock it? Putting up stickies only goes so far.
-If it was locked after a certain period of time, how would it be known if it was answered the right way?

I get your point, but it would be impractical and cause more problems than it would solve.

Have you ever used Yahoo answers? I was thinking something along those lines.

Basically: Let the user determine if the question has been solved. Once it has been solved, the name could change/add "Solved" or "Resolved" or something along those lines. Just something to show that it's been answered so no unnecessary spam is posted.

I like the idea but I see no practical way of enforcing it.

Good idea. I agree with Julian though, I do not see any way of enforcing this. Maybe if Sythe got more staff members and took different shifts... eh... I don't know, trying to think outside the box. :/

You could do it, but *most* people who post things of that nature probably want more than one answer. its a COMMUNITY, thus you taking the ability away for more than one person to answer destroys the community aspect. You wouldn't in theory have a whole group of friends and just ask ONE of them a question you thought was important, you'd probably ask the mojority of them.

We already infract on it in extreme cases. I think there is a sticky in one section that forbids it...

Also, what if another use has a suggestion or an add on to what another user has said.

Or if the suggestion is actually wrong and is just informing the OP.

However, if it's just the same post all over again then it can be infracted.

Agreed with Skele. Some people like i said dont think that the answer is COMPLETE, hence why more than one person may answer.

You don't have to report it, and it is not ALWAYS spam. Its just a second opinion.
