I am going to start wow

I have been a runescape player for the last 2 years but now its really boring so I am going to do the switch to world of warcraft.

I played the trial and I couldn't get the hang of it as it seems very boring killing 10 boar and so on and it also takes ages to level (gnome mage)

Can someone give me a few tips and suggestions to get the ball rolling.

    Best of regards,
    Max Perkins.

Well from experience, Mage is very slow to level with the constant resting and being O.O.M: Out Of Mana. Although at higher levels Fire mages do some insane damage, good for pvp. Frost mages are awesome for pvp.
What realm you at? Ally or Horde. Lemme know maybe I can give you a hand in game.

A few tips that helped me:

-dont skill train each time u get mats, save mats and skill train once or twice in large quantities.
-stick to an area and try finish up as much quests as you can there, travelling takes mega time.
-dont spend too much time at AH, it is easy when too concerned about gold, gold comes faster at higher levels.
-stick to one account till 80, every account you make after that will level much faster due to BOA's (Bind on account items.)
-sometimes its good to grind (kill same baddies over and over) if the xp per kill is good and u are close to leveling.
-frost nova and mana sheild are your best friends at lowish levels.

-Stock up on the highest mana drink you can, the conjure water isnt always the fastest mana.
-fire based at low levels, frost based at higher levels when fire is resisted.
-spell sequence: fireball - fireball - scorch if near death - frost nova if close. Repeat.

    Hope this helps

I have xfire if you need any help. Just msg me (nonamekiller101)

You should do RaF a friend with someone that knows the game, it will help you a lot (3x XP, advice from them, etc.)
There is not really a better side between ally or horde (it depends on the server you play, which side has more skilled players)

Well, first of all mages will be really hard to level with the constant deaths i'd make something easier like a warrior or pally to start off with and if you quest you will level up much faster

I second this,Mages are really fun,but I don't recommend them for a first time WoW player..
    I'd suggest:Hunter.
Hunters are probably the easiest class too level,Fastest. They are very unique considering they can tame a Wide-range of pets.

Indeed, Mages are very complex for the first-time player, which is probably why you couldn't get the grips of WoW in the first 10 days.

What you could roll (choose to play):
    • Hunter
    • Druid (Can be easy to play)
    • Paladin (These guys are the all around perfect guys. All the other classes complain about them. I'm an 80 Warlock / 80 Death Knight and I complain about them)

What you should avoid (complex classes):
    • Priests
    • Warlocks
    • Rogues (I've seen quite a lot of new players not get the grips of them)

Also, Alliance is a lot easier to play than Horde is. We know Horde looks cooler, but the cities are way too complex for a new player. Alliance cities are simple to get the grips of and memorise.

If I were you, I would roll a Nelf Hunter or a Human Paladin.

Definitly choose Night Elf hunter or Human/Drainei paladin. Perfect for starters. Add my MSN I will give you Alliance leveling guide.

If you are starting out, go a Hunter. Go Horde, Alliance Blow (My Opinion ;)

Hunters are really fast to level. They have pets, which just make you beast. Go Beast Mastery. They are great to learn the game, they don't require much aswell.

Pally: People will bitch at you for tanking and not healing. Or healing and not tanking.
Mage: Horrible to level, awesome endgame.
Shaman: See Pally, but instead of tanking, insert "DPS"
    Warlock: See mage.
Warrior: Awful to level, but you will never lack in groups endgame.
    Death Knight: See Pally.
Rogue: Fun to level, kinda cheap in PVP
Hunter: You'll have to choke a bitch for gear.
Druid: VERY fun endgame, class-specific quests just awful.

    Am I leaving anything out?

Paladins and hunters are the easiest classes to level right now.
Rogues are also easy to level but don't get sucked into the trap that most new players do and not learn their class properly .

I have no idea how the people above me can be telling you to roll alliance..
the horde citys are no harder to figure out than ally city's
horde players tend to be older and a bit more mature(stereotypically) and will generally be more helpful.
also horde are just badass :p

Its your decision but horde have been the best choice for me and everyone i know who plays the game but then again maybe its not for you.

If you're really looking to get into WoW, make sure you have friends who play it or something. Leveling it solo is boring as shit.
Oh and, recruit-a-friend works wonders (if you haven't already bought the CD-Keys)

If you want to play a really fun class with capabilities, play with either a Druid or a Shaman. The thing about druids is that you can be feral and be able to solo a lot of things in the game while dealing an incredible amount of DPS. You can also heal when you reach the Max level so you can offer a significant amount of help.

Shamans are capable of dealing a dumb load of damage as enhancement with that incredible windfury weapon. If you want to heal, Restoration Shamans are capable of healing multiple allies with a considerable amount of HP. What's my favorite aspect of Shamans is Elemental, you can deal so much damage far away in PvP and manipulate your enemies at a better aspect because you can deal instant damage.

That's my perspective, I never liked mages.
