    Texting while driving

Many car accidents these days are caused by people who are distracted while driving. Whether it's a cell phone, music, texting, or changing pants, the percentage has increased year after year. Some states have even made it illegal to talk while on your cell phone. I will be the first to admit yes, although only at stop lights and if it is a short message( 3 words tops). What do you think about this? Do you text while driving?

Here is a video to give you a possibly new perspective: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JIqO2IBR8aY

Even though it is a car full of women, try to give good answers.

PS: Just kidding about that comment ^^.

    Texting while driving

Texting is a definite no-no while driving. I occasionally talk on the phone when I drive, but usually this leads to a worthless conversation as my short-time memory is occupied by my driving. The danger occurs when you focus more on the phone (or anything else) than the driving.

Taking your eyes and attention of the road to write or read a text message, no matter how short, is more dangerous than it's worth. It's easy to forget, but a car is not a toy (on open roads at least:laugh:).

Anything is possible, but I believe unskilled drivers cause the accidents.

Certain people can handle driving and talking/texting and many cannot.
People should remain to their capabilities.

This made me think that I don't have anything important enough to say that could possibly risk my life. Excluding Religion.

When you're texting you take your eyes off the road. No one can drive blind.

No-no-no-no-no.. texting while driving is like riding a bike with no hands..

To the point: Well, it causes concetration lapses which may make your decision making time from .0002 to .000002 which can be fatal as many family's have sadly discoverd.

First of all, reaction time is way more than .0002. Second, riding a bike without hands can't be compared to driving a car without eyes.

I once played game boy while riding a bike, good times:laugh:

I find it disturbing that you put religion above family.

I can't text and drive, I can barely tune the radio or find the cup holder without crashing. Other than that I'm a good driver.

    Texting while driving

I'll occasionally text while I'm driving but usually try not to. I'm horribly guilty for changing my ipod while driving though.

Your an idiot if you do any of those while driving.
Why risk someone's life just because you need to text someone?

    Texting while driving

Same boat as you. I used to text a lot when I drove...sometimes I wouldn't remember passing certain places, and then I realized that was not good so I cut back.

Now I try and text wicked fast at red lights or stop signs and what have you. Occasionally I will text and drive on the highway...... :noworry:

It is quite hard to text one handed with a BlackBerry...

EDIT: And you know people do worse things than text/talk while driving.

    For example:

    Women put on makeup
Men put their ties on and shave
    Changing radio station
    Eating
    Drinking (non-alcoholic and alcoholic)
Smoking (one hand on the wheel too)
    Adjusting the heat/air conditioning
Yelling at kids in the back seat

    Texting while driving

I'm confused at what I could say about my family that would get me killed... Religion, on the other hand, is easy to find something that I could say, and would have my life threatened/taken.

In my opinion that video was very cheezy. It will not stop many people including me from texting while driving.
