and you NEED SAT for the Ivy Leagues, ACT is BS, I got a 33 without even buying the book. -didn't take real one (taking SAT's This Saturday omgz)
My Sister got 2360 and had stats which were better then yours, 1 B in English AP 5 - Only 5% of people who take this course in the nation get 5's on AP test.-
(I think only 9 AP's to be fair) (5's in all tests, but colleges could care less.)
7 Math Awards <- In California, you can't really do much better, to be fair most of them were 2nd,3rd places.
Only got into the Mid Teer Ivies, Columbia Brown and yeah.
(my dad on the other hand who was 3rd in nation at the annual math contest was not rejected from a single ivy league, wait listed at Princeton but who goes there)
Track only matters if your in top 25 in state, I for one am like lower top 50 in California, but my GC said that would barely help. (basically said to forget about even putting it on app)

I know that DECA and other EC's only matter if you won prizes lol.
Monta Vista DECA is pro, but only a small portion actually win, and those are the people who actually put it on app. If you're a national winner, by all means emphasize it, I myself only got 6th in my own section for Business Finance.

If I have a couple of clubs, 250 hours of community service, double language curriculum, and some other stuff, do I have a chance at getting into a good college?

my gpas so far were like: 3.25|3.25|1.75|3.5| (out of 4) in order of semesters so far. If I work my ass off could I get into say... Columbia?

I don't even know when the SATs are, but I know the PSAT is in a few days. I got some books and I'll see how my improvement will move along.

 

As a side note to the long response below. This thread is supposed to be a lighthearted thread. Feel free to post your aspirations for college, and do not feel like you have to have dick-measuring contests (aka test score bashing) with us Asians.

I've taken both, as they are equitable tests. 2200 on SAT which I am also retaking in 2 days.

Colleges don't care about AP tests. Granted, my younger sister who is 2 grades under has already outscored my SAT by over 100 points. There is no such thing as "better stats". I had not provided you with enough info for you to make that assertion. Part of this is to keep anonymity - some awards can be searched on google and correlated to real-life names.

I doubt it. Every varsity sport would tremendously help. With a 2:10 800m, I rank very poorly even in 3A, though it's an otherwise decent time.

It's a good point. I go to a small school, DECA is beginning it's first offical year here. I do have several accomplishments on science team though.

 

Ima spend my first 2 years in my local junior college, much cheaper and ill be learning the same shit I would in a university. =D

I wouldn't do that, it's going to be a hard transition when you transfer to a four-year college.

 

Yep, a lot of the credits won't transfer. And if they do, they won't count them as the requirements for your major, and will only count them as "extra" credits.

 

Anyone know what's a good minor to go with Psychology? I'm thinking about Philosophy, but I'm not sure.

 

How are you `trying`to go to an ivy league school if you can`t even sucessfully utilize basic grammar?


On a side note, what are your marks and your percentile on the subject tests, and your score on the SAT(s)?

There's no need for that. His sentences were structed well enough for us to understand; there's no reason to believe that the admission officers won't likewise understand what he has to say. Keep in mind, this IS the internet.

Keep in mind that pretty much EVERYONE takes psychology... I would be wary of making that your top choice major.

Some top schools. Good for you guys. I took some extra science colleges like Anatomy and Physiology and came to the conclusion I want to become an Orthopedic specialist/doctor. Something like a child pediatrician that works or a sports trainer. I've been looking into Cornell University in New York, but then I looked into some Florida and California schools, and still haven't made up my mind.

 

Well, ask any college what their biggest courses are, and they're going to tell you psychology 1, bio 1, and math.

It's hard to explain, but almost everyone who goes to decent colleges have some sort of course in psychology, but very few actually go out to make a living from these studies.

 

Eh, probably just fucking DeVry. I don't have the money, nor have I applied for scholarships for a big college. 2010 mother fuckers.

I am taking A&P right now, and it's a really cool course. Most of my family is in the medical field, and I wouldn't mind getting into some branch of it myself. The terms and stuff for that class is what kills me, I'm horrible with remembering all of them. Good luck with whatever you do.

That's because it's a very interesting course. I'm in Psychology right now, and it's one of my favorite classes. I wouldn't go into it as a career though.

 

I am going to go to WSU, UW, or Community to get a bachelors degree, all paid for by the airforce. Then I am going to try and become a pilot in the airforce. I hope to be transferred to Chicopee, MA because I wouldn't mind flying some f-16's or c-130's Working on my private pilots license right now.

 

How ironic that I had reps from so many collages in New England at my school today... My first choice wasn't there and neither was my second. Come to think of it... All of those schools sucked. But here are some of my choices:
