Thinking of starting wow, what class?

    Beating bosses=raids=PvE.
    PvP=Battlegrounds,Arena,etc.
Now a question what do you like better?
Spell Casting or Up-front melee or Long-ranged Damage dealing
Generally all Classes are good at PvP as long as you know how too play them..
I personally prefer: Paladin, rogue, warlock, druid, mage for PvP.
    Paladin=Up-close combat..Using Judgements,"Holy" like spells.
Rogue=Stealth,Backstabbing,Having the ability too dual-wield Fist weapons,Maces,Daggers,Swords (Or you can combine them like Fist,Sword etc etc)
Warlock=Using "demonology,Affiliction,Destruction spells"They can summmon demons,Using alot of Damge over Times (DoTs),And have abilities that'll make your enemy run in fear (Literally).
Druid=You can shape shift into 3-forms (Or even four):
Travel Form,Cat Form,Bear form...If you use you're Talent tree too spec into Restoration you'll gain a Tree of Life form (Aka Healing),If you use you're talent tree to spec in Balance and you'll go a Moonkin form (It's a owl, used for DPS (Damage per Second).
    Now the basic forms:
Bear form: This form is generally used for Tanking,Not really used for PvP.
Cat Form: This form is used for PvP quite frankly alot..You have stealth,Clawing,Raking,And much more "cat like spells".
Travel form: This form pretty much speaks for itself This form is very use-ful from time to time and is very use-ful in certain Battlegrounds.
    Mage:
Mage is a very-well class to PvP as long if you know what you're doing..
Mages use Frost,Fire (and a certain spell lets you use both Frost and fire at the same time),Arcane..
Generally Frost is the PvP spec..But I've seen good Arcane PvP mages,Fire mages..
    Hope this helps you.

Paladins, Shaman or Hunters are your best choice IMO for PvP and Pve.

If you like a challenge but want be to amazing if you have the skill roll a warlock.
If you dont want a challenge and want to kill people by face rolling your keyboard then roll paladin.
    Simple..

For PvP, I would suggest a rogue or a Paladin.

Paladins are really good at high levels (so are warriors), hunters are the class that are easiest to train and are sometimes over powered. Some people call it the noob class. um... shamans are lame, I have a warlock and they were pretty fun... mages have really bad defence but some nice spells, rouges are good until like level 40 in pvp and apparently become crap at high levels. Can't remember others.

Play a Death Knight as your first character!! Na jk, I started with a warrior. Even though I don't play WoW anymore I reckon warriors are pretty good :), but you gotta spend a bit of your money on the gear. My advice is pick 3 you like the sound of, level them to level 5 then decide which one is for you. Also, for professions do skinning and mining cause you make lots of money. My Uncle has an 80 Paladin and says it's boring but maybes it's just him.. Pick a less used character cause people will want you more for raids and killing bosses.

Thinking of starting wow, what class?

    Sorry for the late reply.

I like mainly to farcast so i was thinking of doing a shadow priest. I see no one has mentioned them so are they any good?

My 2nd choice would be a rouge as i heard alot about them owning in pvp.

Also, what should i pick, alliance or the other one (i forgot lol)? Whats the difference? And whats also the difference between orc, human etc i really don't understand these, which one would be best for shadow priest?

    Thanks guys.

Pick which one you prefer Horde or Alliance.
These Horde races can be priest:
    Trolls
    Undead
    Blood Elf
    Alliance:
    Human
    Night Elf
Draenei (I might be spelling that wrong)
    Dwarf.
Personally I would pick a Undead Priest for horde,Human Priest for alliance.

What race you pick does not make a huge difference in your overall ability's so dont worry about that , just pick what race you find suits you.

The only difference between teh horde and alliance is its players. They do not any advantage over the other and neither one is good or bad.
Horde tend to be populated with older players tho but dont let that sway your decision.

and yes shadow priest are very good but probably not the best choice for your first character as there a little more complex to play.
Rogues are good for pvp but to be good at high level you certainly need skill unlike the lower levels.

If its pvp your after and like spellcasters i would personally try a mage first as altho there not the easiest to level they are easier than a priest or warlock.

That's server dependant.... but what yashen said is kinda true :p
And you should roll rogue or mage :)

class and race makes a big difference. Humans have different passive abillities to elfs etc, and they help compliment the class your using. Also death knights cant be your first character because you need a previous user.
