    Home Made GYM Advice

Alright I'm looking for some serious advice.
My Dad officially moved his office to the guest house so I'm looking to convert the room to home made gym.

I'm looking to piece together the best equipment possible I'm looking for body building equipment not cardio equipment etc...

Ps Don't write- Get a gym membership, I already have a David Loyyd membership, sponsored by my tennis team.

Would be useful if you write me a check list.

I'm no expert, as I started lifting recently my self.

Get a decent bench that is comfy and you will love it. You can do a lot with a bench.

Get a good range of dumbells (20-25-30-35-40)

And of course get the bar so you can bench press and shrugs. (With a nice range of plates to put on)

compound row, leg press, leg extension, leg curls, dumbbells and the all necessary things, lat pull up machine, mirrors, towel/cleaning rack, radio/music station, a TV is good if you are doing cardio, put the TV in front of cardio machines, but obviously you're not putting cardio machines in

For the cheap affordable price of probably $15,000!

Don't get my wrong, that would be a good setup, but it's kind of serious for a home gym.

Just get a good bench.. If you spend maybe $300 on a bench you can get one that has multiple attachments and add-ons. Get an Olympic bar + weights (none of that flimsy bar shit) get a good set of dumbbells, a pullup bar, and Olympic curl bar that fits the weights for your bench so you don't have to buy separate weights for both.

It's going to run >$1000 but home gyms don't usually come cheap..

    A full power cage/power rack
Oly barbell with like 400lbs of weight or so
    Adjustable bench

That's all you need. Can find for under $1000 pretty easily I'd bet. (new)

adjustable dumbells, and a bench are all you need. There's no point in a treadmill or anything like that, but a bike and a nintendo with a tv would be kick ass. You can easily bike twice as long playing mario.

I'm top fitness, with less than 10 percent fat. If I wanted to use cardio machines I would go to the gym or just Jog outside?

if money isnt an issue, what i said covers alot, that should cover nearly all muscles in the body, you need a mat as well for ab workouts, a box is also good for calf raises, death jumps and step ups. also that machine that works your lattismuss-dorsi, forgot the name, but thats a great machine you can be flexible with.

a pull-up/dip machine is nice, vertical chest press can be added into what i said.

Also, theres this one machine in our gym that is really fucking flexible, you can adjust the angles of how you pull certain weights, which can lead to really working out any upper-body muscle you have.

I think I'm going to purchase this,

-Everlast Bench and 40kg Weight (Comes with gloves and belt)£99.99
-4 Ft punch bag £69.99( Comes with gloves, and support)
-Pro Power Ab Trainer Pro £49.99
-I already have two 25Kg Dumbbells
    -Bench Lat and Curl £89.99

I think that should get me started. I'm going to also look for second hand equipment, or a better price but I don't think anything can beat Argos in Uk for brand new :)

You should get one of those barbells where you can adjust how many weights they pick up. ^_^

Don't waste your money on the "Pro Power Ab Trainer"

Check craigslist, you can pick up a lot of great deals there.

i'm currently 5 foot 8 180 pounds repping 140 for dumbell press. It's beyond me why you're getting a gym to begin with when you already have a membership. The only reason I havn't put up any guides it because they're valuable and very few people would understand them.

oh and those power ab machine don't actually work, all they do is damage your spine. Best ab exercise is bicycles(exercise not machine) and all of the best ones are done without any equipment.
