I know it bothers me too, have you heard of the term "lamb of god?" (not the death metal band ;p)

Before the New Testament, it was a sacred ritual that when you asked for forgiveness you had to take the best of the livestock you had, usually a cow or bull. And you had the priest at the temple to pray a prayer and then sacrifice. That constituted forgiveness.

However as time went on, people started to bring in sickly and old livestock of no use to sacrifice, this was unacceptable in exchange of gods forgiveness.

So he in turn sent his only son, who was born through virgin Mary, to be the sacrifice for us all, he was the Lamb of God, this was God's sacrifice to end the rituals of killing animals every time one sinned.

Forgiveness is never an easy thing to give, so why should God do the same? (Dont worry he still does give it freely). However it was a sacred ritual of the sort, so it was impossible to forget these teachings.

Yes it was wasnt it? Ironic just days before they lay the road down with palm leaves in honour of his passing on a donkey into a city.

However this is what god planned Jesus also knew this had to be done in order to give us this great gift of forgiveness of sins.

I hope that sort of cleared the mud a bit, if not, im afraid theres not much I can say on the matter

When you say "natural world", are you referring to our planet, our solar system, our galaxy, the Universe or everything defined as existence?

Along with the horrible display of grammar and punctuality, your mad at god because he made your "nana" die?

it doesnt matter if you see it in terms of religious views, we will never fully understand the ways of god, simple as that, we will never understand until our dying day

I dont see how we will be able to at least attempt to understand it it if we do not.

So we should give up? Where would we be now if people gave up trying to understand what they could not at a first glance.

    The Existence of God

Historically, why do people worship Gods? They worship them for their strength, or their power. "Oh Zeus can throw motherfucking lightning, we better worship him!". With Jesus... something special had to happen.

Jesus's Crucifixion story is pure genius. Imagine it, you're a mindless wanderer who has found himself a new god. A new prophet. He preaches and you follow... everything is fine... BUT THEN YOUR GOD FUCKS UP. He does the one thing that God's aren't supposed to do. He dies! :p. He dies on a cross like a dog. Before dying, the wacko yells "My God, My God, Why have you forsaken me?!". And it ends... your God was false. Or was he?

How can you fix this? How can you bring your God back from the ashes? Who's going to be afraid of this dead lump of a man? How are you going to have people worship him? You add the element of guilt; the pure genius of the story.

Indeed, the Greek worshiped the God's out of fear.

Hmm, I dont think you understand the full story. He did die, but that is the thing, he was supposed to. He is the ONLY god that has risen from the dead according to scriptures and teachings, this is what makes him so much different from the other god's.

But I do believe I already explained why he died in my first response to you.

Again it seems apparent you dont know the full story. He did come back from the dead, this is why we have a holiday called "Easter." This was meant to celebrate the his resurrection.

On the side note... where are you citing these other quotes from? They do not seem relevant to the topic at hand

It would be pure genius if it wasn't a rip-off of previous gods who rose from the dead.

Everything Jesus allegedly does has allegedly been done before him. Jesus making free booze was more original than the resurrection.

And? I'm not sure I'm seeing your point. The 'God' died and to replace the gaping whole in the plot, he was made to be a martyr of the people. I'm not sure how his 'resurrection' has anything to do with it. They're all fantasies.

I was using them as examples. The first one was 'God' talking to himself and the second was a imaginary Christian spreading the guilt of the 'sacrifice'.

Easter was a holiday before Jesus. Maybe you should know the full story.

What I really want to talk about guys... is the Bible's Legitimacy. Whenever I speak with a Christian about it, they yell and scream about the Bible's accuracy, and I don't have an answer.

Of course all the miracles, magic, and goblins are complete fiction, but I would like to know how many authors there was, how many hands it passed through, and how exactly it was edited.

Sorry, no one has a definite answer. It had a lot of authors, passed through even more hands, and was edited to fit the church's teachings around 200 ad.

True enough, so my question is how does Christianity stick out from the rest? As it is one of the most dominant religions in north and south america.

Is this the greatest rip offs of the rip offs? o_O

All Religions are rip-offs. There is no certainty with any of this. All you need to do to start your own religion is two things.

    1) Make up the facts (guess)
    2) Install the faith

The Muslims believe that Jesus was a prophet. Christians think he was the Messiah.

I believe that Jesus was not a prophet. I don't believe he was a Messiah. I don't even think he was human. He actually was a unicorn by the name of Shequanzania and he used his magical horn to impregnate Joseph, thus beginning my Church.

Now that I've got my 'facts' strait, just install the faith! Tell everyone that my fantasies are correct and anyone saying otherwise is a agent of the devil, blind, or cowardly.

Presto-magnifico, I've just started my own Religion complete with mindless followers and billions of tax-free money coming in by the barrels!
