Warning: Your accounts are not safe thanks to Jagex.

Originally I had decided that I would be releasing how to do this. However, after a long think and a discussion with the other people involved we came to the decision that we will not be making this info public. How to do this, or any of the key requirements will never be told.

We realized how seriously this could have a negative effect on us in real life (Jagex wouldn't be to happy >_< ). Oh, and also my accounts and the whole game would be screwed over. I have alerted Jagex to this and the exact method of how its done, sadly they have ignored me and it has been 24hours. This is a warning from me to you that something big has happened there isn't a lot you can do to defend yourself from this but I will put some tips at the end.

I've been playing Runescape for a few years and got bored and found a new hobby (glitch finding), so for the past year I've spent most of my time just walking around with a few friends trying everything possible everywhere and with every feature. Never found anything too serious, just a few minor bugs and glitches that can be used to my advantage and a few map glitches which were pretty funny and cool. This post is about my most recent and scary discovery...

Everyone knows that with new updates shit can go wrong, and whenever there is an update I usually spend a few hours looking at it. Having the ability to change your name is a cool feature, but unfortunately its added the worst bug I think has ever been seen in the history of Runescape. The bug I'm talking about allows you to 'spoof' your account into being another player. By this I mean you can FORCE your account into being another player, get their bank, control their character and do literally anything just like you stole it.

Here are a few things I found out from the notes I wrote down sorry if its poorly presented:
The first time I done it was by accident and I didn't even realize what happened. I was on one of my many alternate characters with members, did some stuff and got disconnected I was like 'baww, didn't do anything' and left and thought no more of it. When I logged back in a bit later my new character had all the same stats as my main, all the items and it had moved. I shit a brick thinking I had caused a dupe so I banked some stuff. Went to my main and realized the stuff was changed on both accounts >_< this means that the accounts were somehow linked or I like to call it 'Spoofed'.

I got a friend to try this with one of their alts and the exact same thing happened, but he did it on a much larger scale, he picked one of the top 5000 players (not saying which) and successfully got on it. After being on it for 5minutes he put the account back at the exact same spot and logged out as if nothing had happened. So we alerted Jagex and left it at that. 24 hours passed, and we tried it one more time because we wanted to test a few things, yup we were right Jagex hadn't fixed such an urgent thing yet, maybe their lazy, maybe their not working, maybe they just don't give a shit, who knows?

Here are the other finds:-
When you do this glitch you lose the original character nothing we tried could get it and as far as i can tell its irreversible (unless you was 28days to change your name again?). If you try to log onto both accounts at the same time it disconnects both accounts. If the target changes their name the copying account bugs and you can never log into it again. You keep your own friends list weirdly, my friend said this could be because its on its own server???

There are only 4 people that know how to do this, and we have all agreed that we will not spread the method or use it for our own gain and that this will be the only post about it. Do not ask me to release it, do not ask me if you can buy it I will refuse (i wouldn't even sell for $infinite).

In case anybody else does work it out (don't worry i doubt they will, its not something you could accidentally stumble upon) the only way I can think to keep your account safe is by having a bank pin, keeping that name change so if you do realize anything dodgy going on with your account you can just change your name and the other guy will lose his account.

I have a pretty good idea of how to do it ^^.

 

Actually I gave like 1% of the method away, I know a lot of people are going to assume the program used is either cheat engine, artmoney or WPE but it isn't.

You posted this on the wrong site though, you should go on Zybez or Tip.it instead. If that community knows, then Jagex would make this glitch a priority to fix.

Baha, this is bullshit. Just tested what I thought may be it, and nah, wouldn't work.

 

Pure luck, I actually came across it after 5 minutes, I have 3 accounts with members and the first account I just changed the name to see what happens. Then with the second account this is where the bug happened (my 3rd account is my main). My friends also tried it on their alts, and no I'm not telling anyone how not even an admin - I'm just doing this mainly to warn people what could possible happen and also hopefully get the attention of Jagex because their ignoring any of my other attempts to contact them.
