New guitar, or Pod X3?

So I just had a birthday and I get to get whatever I want. I narrowed it down to 2 things: a new guitar or a Pod X3.

My current guitar is an Epiphone Les Paul Custom II

For those who don't know, a Pod X3 is a device which you plug into your guitar, before your amp. This specific pod offers over 70 different presets, multiple instrument input, vocal preamps, and a bunch of other stuff.

My guitar now isn't great. I have it running through a Wah and Boss Mega Distortion pedal, so the sound variety that I can produce isn't great.

So $400 Pod or up to $400 guitar?

 

Pod. Def. and tbqh, Epip, LP's are pretty good imo.

and secondly, your Les will be way better than any guitar you can get with 400$, trust me on that.

 

Are you running stock pick ups? Are you running a combo amp or a stack?

 

think about it terms of marginal benefit to marginal cost. Which do you need MORE of? If you have a guitar and not a "pod x3," would not having device be less or more beneficial to you if you had a new guitar? If your guitar u have now still works why not get something you dont have and get a newer guitar when KNOW you need a new replacement?

And yes the entire guitar is stock. I didn't feel like investing into a moderate guitar.

 

I personally would suggest a better guitar or pickups. You can get a decent set of pickups for roughly 150$. With stock pickups, especially with that guitar, it will be almost impossible to get a decent tone. Save off on the Pod, and invest in something that will make your entire tone sound better.

Yeah, but my dream guitar is a Taylor Solidbody, which is $1,100 something. I'm trying to decide if I should get a guitar between the one I have now and that one, or just save up and have a crappy guitar for longer, but the Taylor faster.

 

Everyone always has a dream guitar that they can not afford haha. With $300 you can get a nice used guitar from your local shop. You can sometimes get really good deals, especially because some come with custom pickups.

 

I say guitar. Get a decent ESP, you won't regret it.

Err, Gibsons are almost exactly the same as Epiphones, but thrice as expensive.
My friend has Les Pauls from both brands, the Gibson cost him a shitload more, and he plays his Epiphone more because it sounds better.

 

a new guitar , ipod is sht ,that have like everybody ,fi u wanna mp3 player than buy some chinese sht and if u wanna play games than buy PSP ,but guitar is wat i would have

Does anyone have any experience with a Pod? Currently I'm looking at the X3 but it looks complicated as hell, and I don't want to be fiddling with it for an hour just to get the sound I'm trying to get.

Also, the Pod X3 Live is only $100 more, but that's $100 I don't have, but it is the best thing of it''s kind on the market. Also, there dosen't seem to be many "support" videos of the Pod X3.

I might end up getting a Ibanez ART320, which is the one I'm looking at right now for my $400 price range. I love the Les Paul style.

 

well if you are coming out of the closet then a guitar is probably the way to go.

 

The Pod X3 since you already have a guitar.

Having another guitar will still make you play as you used to with your last guitar so it'll be the same thing, just the sound will be better.

Having a Pod X3 will make you do something new.

And if you want to buy a 1,100$ guitar, why don't you wait to save the cash instead of buying a cheaper guitar?
