RuneScape on a Console? When?

Well I was jumping thru questions on RuneScape.com the other month and I heard a kid ask a Mod if there ever willbe a RuneScape on a console and he said they're deciding on which console to put it on.

Is this gonna happen/ When?

Also what's your idea on it? How do you think it's gonna work? Making a new account or existing account from PC. Also Xbox 360 or PS3.

This has to be the most stupid idea I have ever heard, firstly Runescape runes with Java, secondly it's a FUCKING COMPUTER GAME! YOU CAN NOT MOVE A MOUSE LIKE A COMPUTER, YOU CAN NOT TYPE LIKE A COMPUTER!

There are MUCH more better games on the XBOX, PS3, PSP, WII, PS2, XBOX etc.

Even if they do do this, which is highly doubtful, I garuantee it will not lift off and it will leave JaGeX nearly broke.

I don't think it is ever gonna happen, it would be hard with the mouse, and you would have a keyboard on-screen, which will be slow with typing.

 

I'd love for them to put it on the nintendo wii or something and change the whole interface so like you walk and the character walks etc, would be epic lol.

 

They could release specifically designed controllers for the gaming console, which you purchase with the game, and if it were on say, an Xbox, you would connect to other players via Xbox Live. It's not a COMPLETELY absurd idea, but I'm doubtful....

 

Well, I actually got to test a new type of console they'd like to use it on. A couple weeks back, the adverts on Runescape.com said "Help shape the future of online gaming." or something. If you clicked on it, you could see that it was a gaming study here in California. I was one of the 12 people accepted, and as part of that, I got to go up to San Francisco for a couple hours and test the new thing. It kind of looks like a Nintendo Ds - it uses a stylus, but on the bottom part, It's a small keyboard. Hope this was useful info.

 

It really wouldn't be that difficult... they could do what the Sims did and make it so you control your character as if it was a third person RPG. When you want to interact with something, walk up to it and press A, and pick from a list of options. Scroll through the interfaces with the D-Pad, and thats really all there is to it.

 

Also on the ps3 or wii, they could make it work in the internet browser.

 

PS3.

PS3 can have a wireless mouse and keyboard.

They also have a internet browser.

PS3 can run java.

PS3 is free online.

No one is going to want to pay for runescape membership, then pay for xboxlive membership.

So, i think it'll be ps3 all the way.

All the people saying it won't happen obviously haven't read much on the RS forums. Jmods have already confirmed it, lol. They just haven't decided what console yet.

Btw Tyson, Microsoft can EASILY make a mouse and keyboard for the 360.. so stop the fanboyism?

Even if they do require you to have a gold membership (I doubt it seeing as RS has its own fees. There might be a fee to download an application to play RS, but I doubt playing it itself would have an additional fee of gold membership tacked on) most people with an Xbox already have gold membership.. I mean, what's the point of having an Xbox if you don't get XBL.. you're getting like 1/2 of the value of the console without it.

 

You can click the screen with a wii (It sucks, but im just saying)

And you can attach a USB keyboard to the back of the wii....

 

also, you can get a mini keyboard on your 360 controller that would work perfectly for RS. RS would easily work as a console game. WoW? not so much

 

i think they should make a version for the ipod touch... maybe it wont have all the features, but being able to woodcut and fish will be enough for me

 

I honestly dont think it can happen.. i mean putting Java on a 360?

 

Why does that sound hard to you?

Also, Jagex has been talking about implementing DirectX, and the main reason they gave for it was that they were going to be adding RS on consoles.
