My Senior Year Log

Okay so.. I'm a senior now in highschool. (For you europeans, this means i'm in my last year before i go to a university). Here's my story.

My parents got divorced when i was in 4th grade (10 years old). I'm 17 now and luckily it never bothered me or had social damage to me. What it did do though was tear me apart in school. For some reason, since 4th grade, I've realized school just isn't for me. I'm not a complete failure but i'm pretty much fucked this year in school. My schedule is PACKED, and i can't leave early like all my other friends who basically have 1-5 classes. I have 8 like everyone else. This means i go to school at 8:30AM and get out at 3:15PM (15:15PM 24-hr time). That's not normal for a senior in my school. Most get out at 12:30.

Anyways! I have a full schedule and after i talked to my guidance counselor (my school councelor, deals with my classes, extra courses or sports) I have set-up a schedule which is so strict, that if i fail ANY classes in it this year, I will not pass highschool.

So i decided to make a log of my schedule, and grades.

Period 1: English 11R (11th grade english, i failed it last years so i have to re-take it.
Period 2: English 12R (Regular english, standard for all seniors in my grade)
Period 3: Computer Gfx&Design 3
Period 4: Physics (Science)
Period 5: Gym (Physical education, not special ed, i'm not a retard).
(Lunch time)
Period 6: Government&Economics
Period 7: Calculus 1(Math)
Period 8: US History

This is a really strict schedule. I can't fuck up. I expect everyone to be mature and follow the rules in this thread, I will check it DAILY and will report anyone flaming, spamming, etc.

I got a packed schedule too, I gotta leave at 3:30.
Fuck I'm thinking about dropping my 6th so I get to leave at 2.

what happend with english last year?? and I think it goes for everyone here that if you can do the impossible, anything ahead of you will be possible...

i have to get up at 6 everyday to get to school and come back at 5pm at the minimum.. long days..

Get used to it buddy. I have seven periods a day, starting at 8:30 ending at 3:20, every working day of every week except for holidays. I've had the kind of schedule you've put up for yourself since 8th Grade, it's not that hard. What you're doing now is standard where I live, so don't act like you've got it so tough. >_<

Of course, if your parents split up it may cause some factors which effect your schooling, e.g. forms of depression, etc. However I will stress that if you think that schedule is packed, then you would HATE to be schooled in Australia.

although in uni apparently its easier.. 1-3 classes a day with some lectures that you dont even have to go to?

Only for most seniors because you only need 3 years of math, history and science, so English, Gym and anything extra is the only reason u need to stay.

 

That sucks on 8 classes a day. Getting out at 3:30 is early anyways, aren't most seniors having electives?

 

Nah in my school you get all the classes you can out of the way early. I always passed electives, never did good on core-classes.

 

It's only as a senior is it standard to have some sort of early dismissal because most of the core classes for college or university as it is called abroad are fulfilled. All the other years, at least around here, we had the same schedule that you did.

ouch bro, 2 english courses is gona be rough, calculus is very easy to begin with, but if you loose concentration half way through your not gona get a good mark, gym will be a bird course though i dont think universities accept that as it isnt a university course? i may be wrong but for my school it wasnt. (im in first year uni now). economics from my understanding is a fairly bs course and u will get a 70% easy with out putting much effort on your part, depends on the teacher but most economics teachers are retardedly laid back. physics.... not going to be fun as it is (imo) one of the hardest classes to pay attention in lol. computers im thinking will be reasonable and if u have some friends in that class that are good get them to help you, if not just make some : p. i dont really know much about us history but most people i knew who took it found it interesting, so if u have a flair for that sort of aspect it wont be too bad. Thats the most advice i can think off, good luck dude im sure you'll do fine if you just keep cool and do the work

 

You are lucky for having to be at school at 830..I have to be at school by 7:00.

 

My 8 Classes this year are hard

Im a junior btw. We do block scheduling so I have first 4 classes for 1st semester and second 4 for last 90 days of school. School starts at 7:35 and I get back from soccer at 6. Long fucking day.

i support you 100% and i think education is important.

however, its not the end of the world for people who get there G.E.D. or take another semester of H.S. to get there diploma.

Life doesn't just stop.
As long as your making progression in somewhat of a way you can still be as successful as any Harvard grad.
my uncle dropped out when he was a sophomore, got his G.E.D., worked his ass of and ended up going to NAU. Now he is currently going to school to fly helicopters. not a bad life if you ask me.

just know your always 100% in charge of your future.

4 years of Gym is required to get your highschool diploma... 65 and below is failing in my school and yeah.. economics is easy.

Ouch.. AP sucks.. looks REALLY good for college though.

 

It's really not that hard if you try. Wanting to pass the classes will help you try harder in the long shot, so I'm glad that you want to pass. If you do feel that it is too much, work out a plan to take summer classes (If you have it there, if not, ignore this next part.) That way you get to graduate with your friends still and take a few courses over the summer and not have so many at once.
