Downgrading to XP Pro from Vista

I was wondering, could I downgrade to XP pro from Vista Home basic without having to backup all of my files?

Or when you downgrade does it keep your files?

you will need to go out and purchase a windows xp CD. Then install it on your computer and it will be brand new. So yes you need to back it up.

Why do you want to downgrade anyways? Vista had pretty much all its bugs fixed and is working well... And you could dual boot XP... And then you don't have to delete your files... I do not think... But a full reformat would be best.

Google & use Vista's handy feature of making a separate partition in the OS.

Then, make a list of programs you use daily or a lot, or that are mandatory for you. Put it into that new partition along with some backups of important files, documents, music.

Now, wait until October 22. Buy Windows 7. Install that.

If you've got the XP disc then you can dual boot it, meaning you can have the vista OS and the XP os. My computer runs well and I've got windows 95, windows vista and windows 7 on my HD

Get Windows 7, it patches most of Vista's problems and works almost like XP

If you insert a Windows Vista Factory settings CD you can have the option to backup all your files to a CD or USB stick.

Once that is done, you will have the data on your disk/usb and just click install.

This will then install the backups to xp/Windows 7.

I DO recommend using XP as vista is tooo buggy due to the interface and ACP's. Also, XP gives you 90% of the CMD that you can find when you boot up whereas Mr Microsoft (dickface) has created a 40% CMD on vista meaning you CANNOT do the nitty gritty that you can do in BIOS.
