Sythe Requirements: Reduce Scammer/Imposter Population

I believe that Sythe needs to discuss with Admins, Mods etc about rules and making this site so it requires certain things before viewing posts.

I suggest we make certain threads (ie. Marketing forum) viewable by people who have been members for atleast 3 days. This would keep people commited to the site, and also, reduce the amount of scamming.

Sythe should also make it so that you can't display contact information. This would reduce the amount of imposters, and what not.

 

I like your idea of hiding contact information, for that would require a user to send a private message to another user in order to acquite such information.

As for other points, I see flaws, but good suggestion.

 

Hiding contact information information sounds like a good idea that could be expanded on. With your other suggestion, people come here to buy and sell their goods and would not want to wait 3 days to do so, activity would probably drop with newcomers if this was to happen.

 

For the other suggestion then, we could make it so that they must verify their e-mail address, making it so that there are people not just making 10000000's of accounts, and ban evading, etc.

 

Sythe's main influence and market is on new members.

That would mean a HUGE crowd of newcomers would be driven away.

 

I like the verifying address idea. But 3 days won't deter most scammers.

 

It's true, everyone would get bored of waiting the 3 days and end up on a different forum

 

yea but everyday one scammer is on this site.. i would say the private info yes the other one wud be.. like rsbot? u have to have a certain amount of posts to make a thread.?

 

What's stopping someone from making an account and scamming in 3 days?

Or making an account a day and scamming EVERY day.

Ya i like the private info idea but may need some more though into the post delay suggestion. How about only people with verified emails can post.....that may help.

 

Been suggested before, Sythe doesn't want it.
