How to be aware of scammers

    By: Plundy

Making you go first: 90% of scammers will make you go first, unless they are selling accounts. A person can really tell if someone is going to scam by them asking "Can you go first?" but, here are some helpful tips you should be aware of.

    1. The Fake MM: The fake middleman is one of the most commonly used tricks by scammers. They will make an e-mail realitively close to the e-mail of a trusted MM, then say that they will invite them to the MSN convo, and you can do the trade from there. 75% of the time it is a person using an e-mail that looks similar to the middleman's but it is NOT the middleman! Always double check the e-mail's of the real middlemen and the people who claim to be that middle man, also, ask for a PM on Sythe to the person claiming to be the middleman. If they are a real middle man, they should have nothing to hide.

    2. The IP Banned: Many people selling you stuff will say, "I can't sign on to my account because I am IP banned from the site, so just go first and trust me" 100% of the time, these people are scammers. If the person was IP banned from the site, chances are, even if they were and you bought there account, it would already be banned or suspended for what it has done in the past. This scam is most commonly used with the games "Habbo" and "2speced"

    3. The Agressor: Alot of the time, people will ask you to go first, and if you say that they don't have vouches, they will come up with a story and say that they've been on the site for a while, and vouches don't matter. But when you start to question them, they become infuriated and start saying "Just go first or I will report you for wasting my time!" Never go first for these people because they're obviously trying to scam you.

    4. Based on trust: Some people will ask you to go first and when you say "Why should I go first?" They say, "Because sythe.org is based off of trust." Then when you ask them why can't they go first if sythe.org is based off of trust and they say "I don't want to get scammed." It usually means they are a scammer for one reason, and one reason only. They are hypocritical and can't be trusted."

    5. Inpatient people: Alot of the time, a scammer will try to make you go first by saying that they don't have alot of time and need to sell whatever they're selling quick. They will then say "Hurry up and go first so I can give you the stuff and I can leave." But then when you pay, they say, "I will give you what you paid for when I get back." but then they never sign onto MSN again. Do not trade with people who make themselves seem suspicious.

    6. The Sob Story: These types of scammers will say, "I have been scammed so many times, I won't go first and I won't use a MM because they are not 100% trusted and I don't want to get scammed again." These people try to make you feel bad for them so you will go first with them. The truth is, 90% of the time, they are faking and will just take your stuff when you go first, so DO NOT go first with these types of people.

    7. The Business Man: These scammers will say that they work for a company and that they have to keep asking there bosses questions. These people are scammer 80% of the time seeing as how business people should have sites and wouldn't be using Sythe.org for business, then they claim that they are from a big company and give you the site name for whom they work for. I would suggest (If the site is a legit site and not some cheesy scam site) to buy from the site instead of the person. The person is usually a fake and will just steal your stuff.

    8. No proof: When you ask these scammers to verify the stuff in game, they will say stuff such as, "I am not allowed to verify in game my boss said, I can only verify if you go first and pay right now" If people can't show you the items in-game, they're scammers. Never, ever, go first with these scammers.

    9. The random: This type of scammer will go to a trusted persons thread, make an e-mail close to that of the trusted persons and add your MSN and say they are them. For these types of MSN trades, ALWAYS ask for a PM for proof that it is them. Sometimes they will use the excuse that sythe is lagging, so just tell them to PM you when sythe stops lagging, and you will get back to them when you recieve the PM. Right after you say this, the person will usually block you. Obvious scammers.

    10. Gut Instinct: Always go with your gut instinct, if you feel that something is fishy with a person, and you are not sure that you can trust them, go find someone else to trade with. Your gut instinct is correct 75% of the time.

Thanks for taking the time to check out this guide. Hope it has helped.

This is one of your better quality guides, much better then the recent guides you've posted. I like the way you've named the different type of scammers and explained how and why they scammed. However, this being said, I disagree with the "Gut Instict," as many people don't believe in this.

Ultimately, It's a good guide and I hope to see more of your guides the same quality as this.

    7/10.

Very nice guide, a few spelling errors though.

You may want to copy and paste it into Microsoft Word and spell check it.
