Do you believe Global Warming is real?

Global warming is real, but not man made. There are thousands of examples of clear evidence indicating that the event we call global warming is cyclical and occurs periodically throughout history. I do, however, believe that humans helped contribute to the rate of global warming.

 

30 years ago scientists were saying there is going to be an ice age. The globing warming stuff you hear about is all hype. They are simply trying to scare people.

 

The poles are melting. It's obviously real.

 

Well it seems to me that the general critics have taken the following trend.

Scientists: The earth is warming up.
Critics: No it's not!
Scientists: Here's the evidence.
Critics: Ok well...prove it's man-made then.
Scientists: Here's the evidence.
Critics: I don't believe you!

My prediction in the next few decades:
Scientists: We now have proof that global warming is both man-made and occurring.
Critics: Who cares?

 

So humans have been causing global warming since the ice age? Global warming is natural, the question is how much we affect it.

 

Like Swan said, its just that part of the cycle. I believe it has nothing to do with global warming.

 

This is a fallacious conclusion. It goes along the lines as I said earlier of: "Death is natural, therefore there is no such as murder".

 

Exactly. When someone dies, it doesn't necessarily mean that they were killed, you'd have to look into it to see if they were or not.

But its not that black and white. Natural warming and humanly influenced warming aren't mutually exclusive. The question that is raised is how much we are affecting global warming.

Global Warming was already occurring naturally but industrialization an urbanization is putting out way too much waste and fossil fuels in the air.

Agreed. and industrialization and urbanization is defiantly not helping it.
think about all the trash and plastic that is polluted and will take millions of years to decompose. I think that people are just being stupid the way they handle waste. and this could easily wouldn't have been such a big deal if people knew how to get rid of waste and use less polluting machinery

Well it would seem awfully coincidental if natural and human causes played equally significant roles. In this case, I'd apply Occam's razor instead of a solution with varying degrees. Until evidence is provided that natural/human causes both play significant roles, it's simply easier to acknowledge one or the other.

For that matter, I've seen all sorts of odd proofs to nature-warming. Sunspots, sun cycles, Co2 cycles - but big holes are apparent in each one of them. Granted, past evidence shows that such cycles DO occur, but the past is not guarantee of the future.

What do you define as a conspiracy? This is nearly proven.

Everything has an eventual outcome. You're right... we're destroying the future but isn't it human nature to have things at their best in the present and have others deal with the aftermath? Everything is dieing... we're just making it hotter?

Dude, the poles are bound to start melting eventually. Both of the sides- the "cycle" and science all point to the poles melting. Everything most likely, will melt. Climates and temperatures are increasing, you cannot deny it. In our case, it's huge abundant landmasses of ice just waiting for something happen.

 

Old temperature records are almost all derived indirectly; these proxy sources of temperature data can be unreliable and are limited in number. That makes it hard to quantify how great natural variability can be on a global level

However, these proxies do suggest that temperatures have remained fairly constant globally for the 1000 years before industrialization. These proxies include ice cores, tree rings, lakebeds and so on.

Human greenhouse gas emissions are the elephant in the living room here as far as global warming since the 1800s goes. It would be an awesome coincidence if it were all caused by some until-now unknown factor.

Global Warming is fake. It is something made up by Al Gore so he can get alot of money. You can go look it up on the web. The earth is not warming but is cooling. Now they want to call it "Climate Change". So this whole thing started because a group of scientists wanted to make money, and the government want to force carbon taxes on us when Global Warming doesn't even exist! The people that run the government is still believing this crap and they even tried to tax when cows fart. This whole thing is ridiculous. It is all a big scam.

I'm not sure. I mean if global warming is real then why wasn't the Ozone depleted a long time ago? What I'm talking about is volcano's and fires by early humans, etc. May sound silly, but over the what, 5 billion years Earth was around, it just started to go away now?
