Sythe membership

Hey whats going on guys? Well I just came up with this idea when I was talking to one of my friends. . .Now I know some of you...most of you...probably damn near all of you hate this suggestion by the title alone haha. Well here it goes anyway!​

So I had this idea see that sythe himself charges a little membership fee. The fee doesn't have to be outrageous or anything too substantial. Just maybe 2 bucks per month via paypal, or whatever would be easier to manage for him. Or maybe a one time registration fee of like 10 bucks? Now I'm not too sure on how you would incorporate that in with the actual sythe account or when registering for a sythe account because I am pretty much technologically impaired.

Now this has some pretty good pro's to it

Pros:
- Your most likely going to have at better ratio of quality members to shitheads on sythe in the long wrong. . .after you weed out the people that don't want to pay

- Your definitely going to have less scammer's because they're going to think twice about scamming since they're actually paying for the account

- This will help sythe keep sythe.org running, he won't always have to rely on adds or anything

- Maybe he'll get a little extra that doesn't need to go to keeping the site up, with all the work going into this site. . .why not?

- Maybe with the extra money rolling in, he could update his server. Less lag and all that good stuff ( technologically impaired remember? )

- To spice sythe up a bit every month he could have raffles for various things. . .Can be anything use your imagination.

- This ones ties into the first point, members on the site who have paid will probably pay extra attention to the rules to make sure they don't break any of them and lose what they have paid for.

There's really so many pro's for this idea, some of which I can't think of. Honestly I don't think they end...there's so many ways to benifit from this idea.

Cons:

- Your definitely going to lose members. . .what I always figured was quality not quantity though haha

- Sythe himself might have a little extra work on his hands with getting together the paypal account or preferred method of payment and maintaining it

- People are going to bitch. . .people always bitch.


There's really a lot you can do with the extra money rolling. My idea/pro's/con's were just a base to get an idea off of. There is definitely a lot to expand apon.

So tell me what you guys think? Good? Bad? Put a 12gauge to my mouth etc. . .

 

I'm not paying a registration fee, if forced to then I just would not visit this website anymore.


That said, this idea will never happen.

 

I actually like it, it wouldn't kill me to pay $2 or $3 for security. ^.^

Better to pay $10 than get scammed out of $60.

In my opinion it saves you money in the long run with getting scammed less.

Maybe make it just for access to the black market area though because not every member is here for that.

Nah, a lot of them managed to grab mommy and daddies credit card to get membership for rs/wow. but I could see where your coming from, but i don't think it would kill them. . .just make it a tad harder.

Lol, within 10 minutes of posting and already have some many nay sayers. I'm figuring its a good idea lol. I don't see the problem with like 2 bucks a month, or a 1 time fee.

hahaa...fair enough. Eh, although a GREAT IDEA. I don't see this going threw, too many people are against it atm. . .

 

I like the idea of it stopping scamming, but it's like... hard for some.

 

The problem with this idea is that there are so many children on this site. I, of course, would be willing to pay as it is worth the extra security, but the chances that the scammers and little kiddies would pay are so low that the site would probably die.

Sythe is known for scammers. Without scammers, Sythe would be unknown.

Maybe charge a fee in order to sell something. On the RSCA forums, you have to purchase a license from them in order to sell things. Maybe you could implement something where you have to pay to access the black market.

 

Pay me now for the fee that might be charged if this suggestion goes live, then? It's only 2 bucks. I don't see the problem.

 

This WILL not stop any scammers. You have to look at it fully.. You just basically stated " Oh it's good.. Pay like 10$, and be saved from being scammed like 60$ ".

You nutes? Scammers say; " Oh. I'll just pay this 10$, and scam 50$. " Either way their in the lead.

Horrible idea...

 

From what I have noticed most scams on sythe are petty scams. Maybe I haven't been paying attention lately but one of the few who have went out big was Mage Pker. . .he scammed 2 blues.

It would definitely hinder scammers though, It would make it a much more annoying process to scam. Then you would notice the scammers actually try and go big instead of the little shit here and there they do.


EDIT: By the way tengauge. . .way to look at only one of my pro's for it. It would also go to the site itself to keep it running, maybe improvements to make sythe faster, more features. I mean this site doesn't run on orphans broken dreams. . .it does take money. Then sythe wouldn't always have to rely on add's to keep it up.

Thats a pretty good idea also.

 

How about making a premium black market where only donators/subscribers can use as well as keeping the current bm. Keeping in mind this pbm would be private. That cannot way the ones who want to insurance can use the pbm, while the ones who can't afford it would use the free one. Not saying I agree with this suggestion, just taking both points of view and finding an ideal solution.

 

I don't agree at all. Sythe membership is not a good idea for multiple reasons. Most scams probably are petty scams, but usually they are worth more than your proposed $10 one time fee and $2/monthly would be even more of a joke. I doubt it would hinder scammers noticeable as well. It hardly makes the process more annoying, it just gives them a chance to look more legit, for instance; "Why would I scam you when I payed $10 to be here?". Scamming is still going to occur just as much, paying the $10 would take them less than 5 minutes and allow them to make profit easily.

I think that it would bring more legit people... but then minors cant pay!

 

He would lose so much traffic that the site would pretty much die. Traffic = money

 

I am not a minor and i would not / cannot pay.
