I'm not. Why should I pay for religion if I'm not religious?

I like it here. It's not that big that I would move to another country.

    The Existence of God

This thread is about debating the existence of God. More or less, it's about asking people why they do or don't believe and making them think about their beliefs. It is a perfectly valid thread, with a perfectly valid cause and a great amount of potential to make people actually THINK and QUESTION what is going on, rather than blindly follow one way or the other.

You're picking an argument because you don't agree with this. You'll notice it's nearly always the religious people that start the argument because they feel that they're being attacked.

Don't act like religion is as cut and dried as you'd like to think it is, because to tell you the absolute truth, it isn't. Now stop arguing what you think about this THREAD and perhaps state with some amount of evidence why you believe in God, rather than spouting nonsense because you disagree with someone else.

I believe in God because he is a good guideline for a good life.

I never felt like people are attacking me.. I just fell like this thread is unnecessary.

This entire forum is unnecessary. It doesn't mean it can't exist.

What makes it a good guideline?

God may help give you a good guideline, but in my religious days I felt people were a bit more fake than people who disregard religion. Just my opinion :(

    Argument from ignorance, effectively.

"I don't know so X must have happened."

It's the same as saying "Because we exist, we MUST have been created by Psychic Pink Ravens from Jupiter!" Do you see how ridiculous that is?

I don't necessarily believe in what man has described as the creator, but i believe there must be one, its the only logical explanation to existence.

nope, no evidence to support it, no evidence in history books to support it.

i got infracted coz of last post now its gone... weird... oh well
im rushed for revision so ill only leave one point pm ur msn if u want more...
    Superclusters
If the big bang occurred 20 billion years ago, it seems logical to assume that nothing in the universe can be older than this. Yet, mammoth clusters of galaxies have been discovered that are billions of light years across. Such clusters would take hundreds of billions of years to form, far longer than the universe has existed. A second part of the problem is that the universe is presumed to have started out smooth and homogeneous, like the background radiation. Recent observations have shown the actual universe to be profoundly discontinuous and clumpy. There are vast areas where there is nothing, and enormous ribbons of matter stretch out over the universe like strings of christmas lights. Another part of the problem is the alleged "dark matter". For the big bang theory to be correct, 99% of the universe must be made up of this invisible and unobserved form of matter. Yet, there is no evidence that this "dark matter" actually exists at all.
the big bang just like evolution is not full proof please dont start bsing saying bla bla yes it is coz gess wut im studying science -.-.
big bang is a majority view and is taught at secondary levels it is a THEORY and like all theorys has its flaws.
so theres evidence to support a hypothesis contradicting the big bang i can give quite a few more but pm ur msn im rarely on sythe.

No evidence to support that the world was round nad not flat a few hundred years ago, so was it then, a fact that it was flat and not round because of the lack of evidence?

I hate people who just completly reject something because there is no proof YET. Go out and find the truth yourself. Otherwise, you'll spam the thread like you just did.

Yet? There is no proof and never will be proof.

I think people who believe in god are scared; scared to die and go to hell.

Actually, there was. There are records of ancient people believing the world is round, why early Christians didn't realize it is beyond me...

Just to name one example, how can a flat Earth have a horizon?

    Lol'd.

You tried to attack my argument, fair enough. You attacked it with ONE thing. Did you know the entire point of making a theory is to build upon ideas and refine these ideas until they are true beyond conscionable doubt? I've not done research in to this argument of yours, as my time is short, perhaps I'll look over this in better detail later.

Okay, I lol'd. OMFG HES STUDYING SCIENCE!!

I do advanced Physics and Chemistry. So what? Also, what makes you call it bullshit? Your obvious ignorance to evidence suggests you perhaps don't want to know the real truth, or don't want to open your mind to it?

Naturally, however theories are being improved all of the time based on the evidence that is uncovered.
