fasting
help poor people

and finally to Mecca which every Muslim must do.

Why is it important? You could use that time to learn something, or do something to help others, rather than pray. Fasting I am indifferent on, as it can have health benefits.

 

I'll judge people and ideas on there actions, not their names, ideals, beliefs. Islam might mean peace, but in name only. In practice it doesn't live up to it's name. I don't think I have to list the number of verses that tells muslims to make war on the rest of us.

It doesn't matter anyway, science is expanding and it threatens all religions. Both science and religion are human ideas, so it is just a matter of the waiting for the natural selection of the good ideas. The sciences we made outlive the gods we made. Zeus and Horus are templates of what happens to gods.

 

How does praying help yourself and feelings?

 

Giving to the poor is fine.

Praying does not always help people emotionally, it actually causes stress for many who miss Mosque or forget to pray. It's also an obligation usually prioritized in a fashion that causes one to miss or be late for more important shit.

What are you being loyal to your religion for? According to your religion, you will go to some sort of Heaven after death regardless, belief is the only ticket, why are you being loyal? (P.S. you just rot in the ground.)

They are very kind and peaceful people.

I'm Jewish and I say that.

Nobody has the right to push religion on others or bash anyone else's religion.

 

What branch of Judaism? Orthodox, Conservative, Reform?

 

So why not just give up praying all together? Will Allah not forgive you every time?

Just as much a generalization as the "all muslims are terrorists" or the "all jews are greedy".

I prefer to talk in terms of individuals, not the collective group.

 

If you categorize yourself under a branch, you're misunderstanding the tree.

I follow my religion from a moral perspective, not a I believe in this so therefore this will happen/not happen.

Everything in Judaism is symbolic and therefore I believe each individual thing based on the meaning behind it.

My family you could probably consider "reform" and myself conservative.

I don't wear a yarmulke unless I'm at temple which for the record is symbolic and only means G-d is above you.

I do pray twice a day. I don't keep kosher. I just take the time to appreciate life for what it is each and every morning/night.

That's why I follow my religion.
