    Hey Everyone!
I'm going to suggest something, that some of you, or maybe the most of you might find redicilous at first: The removal of post counts. Why you ask? Here is my argument:
If someone made an account back in 2007 and never used it until let's say march 2009, then went ahead and wished good luck to all the sellers in the account market and gave free bumps, and posted totally redicilious, meaningless, thoughtless posts, should we call him trusted?

If someone has let's say about 30 posts instead of 500, but all those 30 posts are thoughtful, have ideas behind them, have a reason to be there, should he / she be less trusted?

Does Post Count help anyone determine anything? Because in my deep opinions someone who looks at post counts as a factor of trustworthyness, is someone who is completely undereducated in these kinds of situations.

EDIT: As finishing the thread another suggestion just popped into my mind: The removal of post count related ranks.
It is completely pointless, may confuse some people and often in cases, lead people to making the wrong decisions.
Now let me ask again, someone who has spammed together or posted 2500 pointless posts, should that person have the right to be having the rank of 'Grand Master' rather then someone who has posted 400 important, thoughtful posts, that are helpful to the community? I think not.

    My other suggestion is:
I think the spamming rules should be taken way more seriously and should be punished more harshly.
Let's think about it for a while: A moderator goes - does his job -, warns or infracts a spammer whatsoever. Will this stop the spammer from future spammings? If a members intention is to gain post count regardless of the posts he has to make to gather them, he will.
What could we do about this? Well here is my suggestion:
Make the spamming rules more loose, only punishing real 100% spam with this, but the absolute spammers should be first infracted without a warning, on a second time a temporarly ban given, and on reoccuring bases permenant ban should be given.

How would the removal of post counts help this community?
It would make it a lot easier for all the naive newcomers or simple naive people who think that just because someone has many posts, all of them are meaningful and important, and therefore that member is trustable. It would stop all the needless spam and all the idiotic posts in this community.

How would the strickter spamming punishments help?
They would make the spammers think twice before spamming all the threads and flaming, thus giving a smaller chance to do it again.

Please read my opinion and state yours,
    Thanks for your time.

Agreed, this makes 110% sence, I have over 680 post in just under 2 months, but my post are meaningful and helpful... But I still get called a newfag in the spamforum which is not fair... as I am contributing in this community, I have however seen many people with 1000+ post thinking they can go first to every trade because they have simply spammed like crazy to reach that post count which is very unfair. Thanks for this man!

The mods thought differently about your suggestion, which is why they increased the number of infractions it takes to get banned and reduced the number of spamming points you get per infraction.

I think post count helps you gauge trust in a different kind of way. Although.. I also think it has more to do with reputation than it does trust.

However, post count DOES help distinguish the newer members to show who is experienced and potentially a ban-evader looking to scam.

Agreed 100%. I believe that disabling post count will make users safer from scammers whom sit there for a day and get 400 posts, and then become "trusted". I think instead of posts, there should be a 'vouch' system in place displayed where the post count currently is, as it would be more helpful when trading.

    My opinion anyway...

Disagree. Post count does, in fact, determine how trustworthy someone is in my eyes. If you have a high post count, you obviously don't want to lose your Sythe account. Leechers have nothing to lose.

Besides, post count is a fun thing to add. I probably wouldn't post at all if I didn't have anything to show for it. I probably wouldn't give people advice or help them out. Post count can be meaningful too.

This has been suggested before and denied... People just need to not trust people just on post count... And spammers used to get banned too quickly... So. We changed that.

Damnet I didn't post more than 2000 times just to one day steal a shitty account from someone.

Sorry didn't know this has been suggested already, but if you look carefully 2 people disagreed. With the person who's been here for 2 years I understand but posting 1k times in 3 months? Makes him trusted just because he managed to post around 11 times a day?

In all the years I have been a member of Sythe, this argument has always been in debate. Post count does not mean shit. Anyone can be a scammer; mods/admins has scammed in the past. Sure it will help clarify trust with the removing of post count, but not many people look at post count (at least I don't) when they are trading. SMART people, I may add.

I guess you could say I am an example for this. I have been here for many years, just roaming and sharing my fucked up knowledge with people. A ghost, you could say.

This has been argued in the past, and failed; to what I can remember.

People with high post counts dedicate time to post, even if it IS just spam.

They don't want their accounts banned.
