Why teenagers drink

How many teenage alcoholics do you know? Now how many teenage drinkers do you know? Obviously the second one will be much, much higher, so not everyone "forces themselves to have it until they get addicted."

Honestly, Straggler, I don't know why. Obviously it makes things more fun, and I don't feel awkward around my friends as it is, so I don't know. I guess just to do something different. Doing little things is just much more fun when you're intoxicated. I guess it's a cure for boredom. It helped a lot the day my power went out a while back. That's the only real reason I can think of.

 

It makes sense, but I think the age limit is a big factor to.

 

I am about to say why i think people drink and do drugs.
Prepare yourself, take your own opinions and shove them up your ass, it is my time to speak.
I believe people drink and do drugs because they are scared and need the encouragement of substances. They fear rejection and repercussions, with substance abuse they no longer have fear and in times of doubt blame it on the drugs, make up a decent story. People who abuse at party's are shallow nobody's that give in to peer pressure in fear of rejection. Only few people who abuse inside party's are actually interesting humans, most are just a empty capsule, what shows is the drug a fun cool guy, but the capsule is nothing but a tool bag waiting to be filled. I think teens are disgusting and being around them all day makes me wonder why the hell was i born in this time, a time of teenage alcoholics, brain dead sex addicts and just plain old pot heads. Things need to change, our youth is becoming a waste of mascara, yes you EMO kids i'm talking to you, cut your fucking hair nobody wants to look at your ass and then find out your a fucking guy because you look like a fucking women (Chris Crocker).
I have spoken, if i may have owned you, consult your favorite razor blade and cut away.

 

I do it on occasion at parties or with friends. Why? Simply because its more fun than being sober. Sure you can have fun while being sober, but you can have more fun when not.

 

Actually im 16 and not to sound like a douche bag, but I have drank alone at my house and its just because I love things more in a weird way, music is sooooo much better, I wanna do things with my life when I think, until I get wasted then I just feel like shit, I can usually control that though, I agree though it helps alot and makes you talk to people better.

 

If I have a fun night out, I like remembering it.
That's why I don't get drunk.
I do drink, though.

 

I sort of agree to be honest.Its much easier to make moves on girls when ur drunk because ur a lot more loosen up. Mainly because u really dont care about what ur doing lol

 

I drink because it usually cools me. I don't drink massive ammounts, just enough to have that little edge of confidence.

No, thats bullshit. Anything you would say or do drunk you would at least consider saying or doing sober.

On the other hand, I myself do drink (but have chosen not to my first year of college, I'm living in the wellness dorm ) and I don't do it for any specific reason really. Its fun and it does loosen things up a little bit.

True I think it just allows you to say something you think when your sober, therefore easier to talk to.

I hate when people act drunk. I seen this guy pour a couple beers in the sink and then said he drank like 14, it was bullshit, if your not going to drink them don't act like it.

 

I have an idea, start getting a personality together, and grow a big pair of balls so you don't need to drink to say stuff, i never get embarrassed because i know its just people having a good laugh at my misfortune and it happens to everyone

I drink every now and then (I'm legal and all), but I hate getting drunk. I see plenty of people make absolute fools of themselves, ruin relationships, etc, over drinking - it's not worth it.

If there's a situation I feel awkward in, so be it, let it be awkward. I don't like the idea of saying or doing something that I wouldn't otherwise say/do; if it's not me, it's not me.

 

I read somewhere that somebody did an experiment at a frat house of sorts, and someone gave them tons of beer (but it was non-alcoholic) and they all still acted wasted.

Just goes to show how much the actions we take when under the influence are really just reflecting off you and not the alcohol.

 

I don't agree, I have been at a couple huge house parties and haven't drank or smoked when I was there. I was the only person there that was completely sober, I didn't have any trouble or awkwardness talking to anyone. I was still just talking to people like I would have if they were or weren't drunk.

I don't really drink at all anyways, I have only been drunk probably 2 in my life. I usually smoke if anything, but even I don't do that much.

and one might consider saying/doing something sober, but since alcohol impairs you, it makes it easier to do.

there are some things i regret doing while drunk, and you can't tell me i would have done them sober.

 

I drink when I feel like it, im 16. If I go out for a meal sometimes I will have a drink then sometimes I wont it just depends what I feel like its basically the same decision as whether I want a coke or a lemonade.
I do drink more when Im with other teenagers because its like what you do and I don't have adults who I would want to get drunk with unless they were doing the same. I enjoy the drinking games which makes it more enjoyable but it is easy enough just to not drink and I've no need to drink alcohol but if Im in the mood for it Ill take it and I can limit myself to just 1 if I want to.
