How to hack a Slimline PS2

The goal: To get your PS2 to play games with the disk tray open, which willow allow "Swap Magic" to run. You can then run your own downloaded and burnt games on your PS2.

The problem: You have to own Swap Magic disks. They're perfectly legal to buy, and cost about 30 dollars. But in the end you will be saving hundreds.

    Items needed:
    • A Slim PS2
    • Scotch tape
    • A peice of regular printer paper
    • The ability to make a spit-wad
    • Swap Magic Disks

Here is an image of the Slimline PS2 we will be using.

Red: This is where we have to make a spit-wad. Place a small 2cmx2cm peice of paper into your mouth, or if you prefer put it under the sink and wet it up. You will need to roll that peice rather then, and shove it into the hole, and make sure it stays in there.

Blue: You will need to get a small peice of scotch tape, and make sure this little lever is held back. It applies a force onto the disk, which stops it from spinning. Now test to see if it will let you run a disk with the tray open.

If disks wont run with the tray open yet this means you have an older motherboard, which has a trigger on the inside you need to tape down, and have to get into it to do. Here is the screw info. Notice: This will void your warranty. There should be rubber things in these holes. Pull them off, and unscrew.

This is where the trigger should be for the older motherboards, tape it down. Don't worry about pulling too hard on the casing to open it, it wont break anything. Notice: The on button may come out of place. It can be simply put back where it belongs, don't fret it.

Load your swap magic disk, and it will load an app onto your screen. Once it's loaded it will stop. You can now remove that disk.

Now place your burnt game (Legal copies, please.) into the tray, and click "Load game" from Swap Magic.

You have now successfully hacked a PS2! Congrats!

To mods: This is not illegal, nor is it warez related. The intention for this it to let people play the backups of their own games they made when they bought them.
