Hey this is mostly directed towards unbanned - but anyone applying for OMM aswell; along with a suggestion for the staff...

Just my opinion but I think you made a bad move when you posted asking why you were declined OMM. After your FIRST attempt was declined you should have posted a thread perhaps asking all staff what you could do to improve and gain their vote, and why you think you would be a good choice. Seems much more mature a way to handle it. Also, in the end; it all seems like a popularity contest to me. The staff vote, and some votes may be a bit biased - but there's nothing you can do about it. I know alot of staff might flame me for this idea, but I think the regular sythe users should have a chance to vote for the applying OMM aswell (although the OMM in question should not have the right to ask people to vote). Which is why you should try to get along with everyone, and be mature about situations - don't get angry so easily.

Just my opinion - I like you unbanned, I just hate to see you ruin any chance you had for OMM.

And the staff's "bias" will be overcome by the idiocy of the average 9 year old runescape player here? I think not.

 

There would obviously be a requirement to vote. Perhaps 1 year on sythe.org, that sounds fair to me. Most kids will be long gone after a week or two on sythe - I'm sure.

 

Users express their 'votes' by trusting the MM and helping them get the trades they need in the first place.

Otherwise, almost everyone would get through. Think about it: unofficials have at least 25 trades in the application. That's going to be nearly 50 'yes'es already. Not to mention, such a vote would be even more open to bias opinions, since most users don't really care whether the MM scams eventually - staff do.

With the current system, I admit that popularity does matter - but only to the extent that the staff have to know who they're voting on. If it's someone most of the staff have never spoken to, or haven't really seen much of on the forums, the chances of them getting through are low (and should be). Similarly, staff are more likely to trust the people they talk to regularly than someone they don't really get along with, and therefore never speak to - however, I have never seen someone vote with the reason, "no, I don't like them", nor do we allow it. All votes must be justified.
