Doomsday 2012;True or False?

I think its true, 2012 is going to be the first time in 26,000 years that the sun enters the center of the galaxy, and most galaxy's have a black hole in the center, if the sun is out, so is all life.

No, dumbass. Do you even KNOW what a galaxy or a solar system is? How about stars? Did you know that what we call the "sun" is actually a star and that our galaxy contains over 100 billion of them that varies in shapes and sizes? Did you also know that our solar system isn't the only one in existence and that there are many other solar systems located in our galaxy?

No, you probably don't know any of those things. So I suggest that the next time you post an opinion, make sure you read about your topic (in this case, the universe) before you say something. Making retarded comments in the debate section would get you flamed.

Yes, most galaxies DO have a black hole in the center of them. But our sun is NOT going to be anywhere near the black hole located in the center of our galaxy. In fact, our solar system is about 28,000 light years away from that black hole. Please, tell me where you got your bad information from?

False- Mayans may of been very advanced astronomically, but I truly doubt they can predict the end of the world.
Also, historians say they had the wrong birth date for Jesus Christ. They say they were off around 2-10 years so if they are correct, the year "2012" has already passed...

The Mayan calendar doesn't stop. On December 21, 2012, the Sun will rise right against the center of the galaxy. The center of the galaxy was considered by the Mayans to be the "birth canal" of the universe. So when the Sun rises against this "birth canal", it is appeared to be "reborn", therefore starting a new cycle of the calendar.

 

I hope it is the end of the world, so it stops these stupid threads.

But honestly, the Mayans may have just decided to stop with their calendar.. They had to stop somewhere, it can't go on forever.

Anyone that actually believes in the end of the world, based on the Mayan calendar really needs to get their head checked out.. Google Nostradamus though. I always thought his theories/predictions were interesting. They say he predicted 9/11/01, and he has also predicted 2012 to be the end of the world.

People say the world will end, but they don't say how it will end.

If people don't know how it will end, they really don't have any reason to think it should end in the first place. This means people who say the world is going to end are basing their claims off of nothing whatsoever.

The fact that the Myan calendar ends in 2012 isn't proof. It means nothing. If I made a calendar that ended on June 12th, 2046, it wouldn't make the world end on that day. Thinking that the world will end because a really old calendar says it will is extremely bad logic. Anyone who believes the world will end in 2012 is irrational because all evidence suggests the world won't end in 3 years.

LHC A.K.A "Atom Smasher" - the article says that they'll be running its first serious experiment in 2012. Guess what? that's a lie. They ALREADY ran their first experiment with no problems so far. Chances of mini black holes and other world ending problems is very low at one in a billion trillion or something like that.

I don't know what to think on this subject. It's a possibility, obviously, with the way everything's going. Who knows, we'll all find out soon enough.

Yes people can predict the end of the world. It's not like predicting weather that we can barely get right now.

Penn & Teller did an episode of "Bullshit!" on the 2012 prophecy. Whether you believe what they say or not there are still some interesting points brought up.

One of the things they say in there is that if you really think it is going to happen, going out to all the crazy people that really believe it and are setting up little shelters and everything, they should sell their houses. Have it so they own them until 2012 at which time they get a nice chunk of change or something and then they have to give up their house.

No one is going to sign away their house. I don't believe anyone believes in it enough to sign away all their possessions.

I don't believe in another one of these silly 'end of the world' scenario's.

 

I more believe in "Black Death" virus that had just came out, that is way more scarier then 2012. Trust me, and its out already. Not like 2012, everyone's just talking about it...
