I've been thinking of signing up for the Marine Corps when I turn 18. Does anyone here have family in the Marines if so did they regret the experience or enjoy it. Im looking for well informed feedback, no spam please.

My neighbors' dad was in the Marines. He's 45 years old and has some-what of a beer belly, but he can still run 10 miles. - My point is, he is still in amazing shape, and he enjoyed the experience also.

If you were going to serve your country, this would be the branch I would recommend.

You should really talk to mu-b. He is, and has been a marine for a while.

Have you considered the Army? A lot more opportunities in rank advancement and job placement are available. You ask about experiences...

From what I've heard it's vastly different between people. Some love it and serve their whole lives, while others hated it all their years.

Also one thing I always hear is don't join if you're afraid of being deployed. You'll look bad and end up deploying anyways.

I'm not afraid of being deployed and I would prefer to join the Marines though the Army does sound nice as well.

I know your talking about the American Marines but my cousin joined the British Marines a couple of years ago. He said he'd never experienced something so different in his life, to him he felt he was doing alot of good in Afghanistan and it made him proud. He's done things that he'd never done before like fly in helicopter and fire weapons and motars. He said it's a bit hot though lmao.
I'm thinking of signing up to be in the RAF when i'm older. I think all the armed services are a great career to go into and you should definately go for signing up :)

My buddy's are in the marines. Only thing that they said was hell was boot camp. They said they were prepared for it, but seriously, who want to do all that running, pullups, situps, push ups in like 10 minutes.
