RuneScape Has Ruined My Life

Well, this is it. I haven't really been paying attention to my social life, but I recently noticed that all of my friends are disappearing.

This MMORPG has stolen four years of my life from me. Four years that I will never get back. I've planned to quit, and tried to quit for some time now. But I can't.

It all started when I was 12. My brother was talking to his friend on the phone, and his friend was telling him about the game. The next day my brother showed me the game, and I remember getting sucked into it.

At first I didn't know anything about the game. I didn't read guides or watch videos. I just taught myself how to play the first year.

Soon my addiction grew stronger, and I started blowing off my friends to play. Whenever they rang the doorbell I would hide. Whenever I was invited to spend the night I would make up some excuse. Whenever they asked me why I was never home I would lie. Little did I know that RuneScape was slowly eating up my life.

As I got better at the game, I got worse at life. Although my grades never dropped, my friends started to leave me. Soon I began wasting all of my free time on the devil game. After 85 mining I'll quit I would think. But I never did quit. I just took breaks. Breaks that were a month at max.

At one point I became so addicted that I blew off a girl completely for my friends 99 Slayer party. The next day at school everybody knew that I was hiding something. This was where I ultimately decided that I would quit RuneScape.

I've made over 20 different accounts with an 800+ total level on each of them. Spent over $2,400 on memberships. And wasted well over 2,000 hours of my life.

I plan to sell/give away all of my accounts before Sunday.

If you know a method for quitting RuneScape please send it too me via MSN. I'd be watching to see if I post any free accounts.

 

Erm.. Well the first thing you can do is focus your mind onto better things such as:

-Working out
-A job
-A girlfriend
-And some very loyal friends.

 

Get a job or something that will give you a sense of duty.

 

Run 20 miles a day then you'll never play rs again. Obvious troll.

 

You obviously didn't read this. If he was blowing off friends and a girl do you honestly think he would show up for work?

I was in the exact same position as you, I used to find excuses so I could play and feed the addiction. I'll add you on MSN.

First thing is first: If you want too quit runescape forever Get IP Banned somehow or Lock all your accounts,

Get a Job,
Get some "Trustful" Friends
Start some hobbies (Football,drawing,writing) or something.

 

I went through this phase myself. I started at 13 and it went on until I was 16. I quit on and off but always ended up coming back to it. Then I finally figured out how to quit forever, and that was to drop all my items and give away my accounts. Once I did that, I felt free, there was nothing tying me to that game anymore. So there I was, a skinny unathletic socially inept kid that couldn't talk to girls. I wasted no time, I started working out and playing sports, and I had to reteach myself how to be social and learn how to talk to girls. It was hard shit and I went through a lot of humiliation, but when it was time for college I pulled all my shit together and now I'm happy. You can add me on aim or msn if you want to talk.

You are telling him to do the same thing that he was not doing before.

If he shuts off his internet he has no way in playing, hence being forced to start doing things instead obsessing about Runescape.

 

Finding a different hobby stopped me. First programming, now web design.

 

Don't blame the game. Blame yourself. Blame your addictive personality. Blame your inability to prioritize what's important in your life.

I hope you find what you're looking for. If you're serious about leaving all this, you can't do it halfway. You can't leave yourself your best account and try to go on. You have to remove everything that reminds you of your addiction. You need to ask for a ban on this site, give away ALL information on your accounts, make sure that there's no way you can find a loophole to come back. That's how it works, if you give yourself opportunities like that, you'll trick yourself little by little into thinking that you can handle the game again.

You know there are more things to do on the computer then Runescape.
