    Bike..

I'm starting today, to save up for a nice road bike.

I've always loved biking, but as of right now, I have a terrible bike. It's what the store calls a 'hybrid' bike. For off-road, and road. It's the biggest waste of $250 EVER.

I'm currently looking at a few different bikes, and I'm open to suggestions. I'm looking for something that goes fast, and is fairly comfortable for long distance rides. (50+ miles)

    Trek 1 Series - 1.5
    Cannondale CAAD9-7
    cannondale CAAD9-6
Cannondale CAAD9-5 - My favorite so far.

For any of these bikes I'll need anywhere from $900-$1500. I'm currently at about.. $150. This is a problem.

(Can anyone make me a 'Money Meter'? Like a goal meter kind of thing. At the bottom $0, and the top $1500. :/ )

I'll keep updating this as I get more money and learn more. Post any knowledge you have about bikes, and any suggestions of bikes you may recommend. :)

    Bike..

Biking is great and fun, I enjoy doing it myself. Although I like to do downhill mountain biking as it is just more risky and fun for me. I'd like to have a bike for the road as well, but ya these bikes can be pricey, like the one you have shown.

It seems like a nice bike, but you can probably get a nice one for about $400-700. My mountain bike cost $450 and people come by and tell me my bike is much better and that they've bought theirs for $800+. So it all depends. Good luck with getting this bike. I know you'll enjoy it like crazy.

    Bike..

    Biking is legit.

If I were you, I'd go cheaper.

I'd probably buy a nice mountain bike for serious biking for $350-$500.

I'd also buy a bike for getting around, such as a nice, fast Harro or Diamondback. Those are legit.

Takes alot of money, good luck.

The bike you mentioned looks uncomfortable, but I don't know, I've never personally sat on it.

EDIT: I just realized the bike you mention is a road bike.

    /facepalm

    Bike..

Yeah, it's a bit pricey, but I've tried out a Trek road bike, and they're amazingly comfortable, and extremely fast.

My friend took a dig on a gravel corner yesterday going 35 MPH. Trashed his handlebars I guess, and he said he felt sick when he looked at his hip. He said, "It looks like chewed up meat".

As to all the mention of mountain bikes, diamondbacks, etc. I have a Diamondback right now, and I'm not pleased with it AT ALL. The derailleurs are garbage. The shifters are garbage. The straight bars are terrible.

The only problem with getting one of the CAAD9-5's is the price. It will most likely take me until next Spring/Summer to get the money for it. :/
