This "Gold Farming" Rule won't be enforced. No game has ever enforced it in the past.

It's not a game, it's a law, in which illegally doing it could lead to fines and or jail time. I personally see that this will make a lot of people have a ton of excess life stress for a while and of course their will be people doing it illegally and with bigger company's shut out in ways... that means their will be a lot more smaller groups on the rise.

Edit: or lead to whatever China has for punishments, not informed at all in what China does when laws are broken. ;)

Because this doesn't benefit the economy/society as say, the pizza industry would. I play WoW which doesn't really benefit me, and no real work is being done, just being sitting on computers playing a video game. Yes, I know it's ridiculous.

people who do sales from their home offices arent affected because there is no way to prove that they are doing it unless they find the ip address and can put a name to the username they are going by.

on the other hand, major corporations such as withgames will be strongly affected because they are in the public market.

It's a double edged sword for China in my opinion. I mean, sure they're underpaid working in these places, but it's still a job. If they enforce this with an iron first mentality then they'll be dealing with plenty people out of work.

People will always find loopholes if the restrictions are too tight.

I think that because America is such a huge industry for rpg gaming, that China wishes to lead also, just not in the way we are saying they are. This could also be something they are trying to stop for future purposes, maybe they are thinking into the future, like what could this really lead to?

I'm sure Jagex had a hand in the passing of this new law..

I seriously doubt however, that this will have ANY affect on the gold-farming industry. I believe it will go on as if nothing happened.

Worst case scenario - A couple gold-farming sites (hopefully Gold4RS) get shut down, just so they can set an example.

I agree with this also. People in China aren't paid nearly as much as the average salary in the U.S. I'm sure a job gold-farming earns them more money then say, running a convenient store. There's big bucks in GP-farming.
