    Hello,

    I have been debating for sometime one whether or not to make one of my accounts a range tank, or just a regular meleer. However, since I enjoy doing both, I couldn't decided which one to make. THe problem is, is that a Maxed Ranger, 99 range 99 hp 99 def 99 prayer, is only about level 100, where as a maxed meleer is lvl 126.

    So if I were to make a 99 range 99 def account, he could only be something like 60 att 90 str, or 70 att 80 str. Or, if i did get to become a level 126 and was pking with range against other level 126 meleers, even though I have the highest range level possible they would still have the distinct advantage since they are fighting as a true level 126, where as I am fighting as a level 100.

    The only solution to the problem I have come up with is to encorperate strength as a universal combat skill. For example, attack would be how often you hit, range would be how often you hit, and magic would be how often you hit. Where as strength for melee would be how high you can hit (because stronger fighters do more damage), strength for range would be how high you can hit (because stronger rangers can pull back heavier bows) and strength for mage would also be how high you can hit (because stronger mages can contain the energy of more powerful spells).

    This would allow two things, for rangers over the combat level of 100 it would allow them to have a equal playing field with meleers, as well as mages. Also, it would allow the range and mage to have more flexibility. For example, most pkers have their strength higher than their attack, because if you don't K.O. your opponent he just runs when hes out of food. This would allow rangers and mages to do the same thing, if you would rather hit harder and less often, train your strength higher than your range.

    This would make 3 range/mage levels worth a combat level, instead of 2 like normal.

    Problems- It is very complicated and really change the game...

    What do you guys think/other ideas?

    Um i didnt really get the last part you said. You mean that rangers/mages should be lower combat then meleers?

    60 attack 90 str 99 range 99 def would own people easy.

    R4n3r- Basically it would be like this... Range and mage would be broken up into two things, just like melee is broken up into attack and strength... range and mage, just like attack, would be how often you hit, and strength would be a universal skill for mage, range, and attack, juding how high/hard you hit...

    Homm88-Yes that account would be really good as long as i'm ranging, but having a melee account with 99 def 60 att and 90 str wouldn't be very good at level 100...

    Get 45 defence 99 range 50 attack 99 str, beast ranger with ability to use g maul and hit 40+ specs ^_^

    lol thats not really the point i'm trying to make... im just wondering if you think encorperating strength as the universal combat skill would be good?

    Hero now i understand your proposal. I think its actually a good idea, it would surely give Magic the edge it needs to become good in the pk triangle.

    Ya, I think it's a really good idea i just think it's two big of an over haul... and there would also be some problems like if you were training strength with range would u get 2 range exp and 2 str xp per hit? or just 4 str xp?... anyway if jagex would just inform people that like in a year this was going to become effective to give people time it would be cool... it would also require people to take more time into their accounts and make it more of a fun game...

    Basically thats just a story I had that makes it easier to under stand. The thread is really about making strength the universal skill. Any other opinions?
