No, I had something to say, I said it, and all they did was say I was wrong with nothing to show of it.

 

Look, it's like this. Lets put it in terms of religion because it's easier to explain.

You claim God is real, I claim God is not real. You only know the bible, I know the bible, and the opposite of the bible.

Your knowledge is < mine. You can cite as MANY sources as you want, but until you've researched both sides, you have no right to enter a debate with me, and I won't even bless you with the right to do so.

Go research arguments for marijuana legalization, and study those before you start sprouting off stuff, and defending one side of the argument. That is no way to enter a debate, for you are ignorant on the topic by not knowing all the facts.

The second you show me that you've done your research, I will be more than happy to debate with you.

First off, Sorry, I didn't even see this post. I wouldn't ignore a good post from someone in my own thread, intentionally.

I did mention that I think the government should be more stern on alcohol restrictions, and I do believe the same for Cigarettes.

It's something I've heard, around school, must just be my stupid school, oh well.

Shall we compare the list of negative effects of marijuana to the ones of exercising? I'll post Marijuana you post Exercising?

you clearly don't get the point of that exercising bit. in that part i was telling you about heart attacks, and how much more likely they are to occur on a pot smoker then someone who exercises regularly. well if you need some clarification, heart attacks don't occur too often on a person who exercises. heart attacks occur only twice more then someone who exercises, which still isn't too much at all.


edit: ok at this point in the argument i can tell that i'm arguing someone who just wanted to seem intelligent on a runescape cheating forum. just accept that your points are invalid and that you have no real reason to be against marijuana, and everything will be fine.

From your link, it says that the risk is doubled.

"Mittleman noted that, as an immediate trigger for heart attack, pot smoking is nearly twice as dangerous as sex for a sedentary person, exercise for a fit male or female, a tantrum of rage, or a bout of anxiety. But it’s less risky than a spurt of exercise for a couch potato or a snort of cocaine."


They're saying that it's twice as dangerous as certain things, and not quite as dangerous as a couple other (obvious) things.


I like that study.

 

So is this topic about the effects of Marijuana or outlawing it? If it's the effects, I get rather bored . So for me to have fun... let's say you're right. Let's go further and say it gives cancer 100% of the time to beginning smokers.

Why do you think it's the responsibility of this group (the government) to stop me from smoking it?

 

This is about the prevention of legalizing it.
And if it were that bad, and did give cancer 100% of the time, I think common sense would kick in and no one would use it.


And trust me, I'm aware that there is no way of stopping you (not litterally you) from smoking it, that goes along with prohibition, one of the main reasons it was gotten rid of is because the government knew there was no way around people drinking it.

 

I'm not sure if you answered my question. What I asked was; Why do you think this 'government' has a right to throw me in a cell or forcefully take money from me for smoking something? What right do they have to tell me what is good for me and what is not?

But, you were right in something. Common sense. If a person would not like to have cancer, as you rightfully said, they will stay away from marijuana. But in reality, you seem to be saying that people cannot use common sense to assess the risks and benefits, and you rather that some random thugs babysit them. Why is that?

 

the only thing that really bothers me about weed is that everyone I know who smokes it becomes a "fuck up" after a year. I stopped smoking after about 2 years of getting blazed daily and things are much better. If any drug sholud be legalized I would say shrooms should at least be regulated, I dont see any negative effects in everyone I know who uses them, including myself

It said that it doubles the risk of heart attacks, that's twice as much as the regular activities that it listed. TWICE AS MUCH.

How is that not helping make my point?

I think that they do need to regulate what you put in your body, for health reasons. Health reasons that the majority of people are un-informed about, or too immature to acknowledge them.

And I'm not sure what you mean about the random thugs babysitting them?

I believe these people are able to use common sense to make the decisions, they just choose not to, or don't care to.

 

tell me how often people die from heart attacks caused by exercising. go on, do it. i don't know how your not understanding this...

 

If I'm not mistaken, doesn't smoking marijuana put (whatever variation of the produced-smoke of marijuana you're smoking) smoke into your lungs?

 

People die from exercising half as much as they do from smoking weed.

Smoke itself is harmful, marijuana is not the cause of issues regarding smoke...
