No, the world isn't going to end. The world didn't end in Y2K and it didn't end in 6/6/06. It's just another one of those things to get [stupid] people excited and reap the benefits of making a movie about it. The only thing I'm worried about is people being douchebags and going on killing sprees or something like that.

 

But since you can't be 100% positive that the world will NOT end on 12/23/2012, there's always going to be that ounce of mystery that comes with it.
On the other hand, I can say that existence as we know it will be wiped out on 03/03/3030 and it will have as much merit as this claim, or lack thereof.

 

Well of course there's always a small possibility of it... But that possibility is the exact same as the world ending tomorrow.

I would like to add that "Doomsday 2012" is a business, just like every other supposed "end of the world."

But there is one cool fact about it. Scientists say our solar system will come in direct contact with the center of our galaxy (a black hole I think). They say something weird is going to happen, but don't know how severe it will be.

It's false, humans are animals with a brain. Just because human say it will happen doesn't mean it will happen; that's just like saying, we will flap our arms and fly like a bird. Just like the year 2000, 2012 will fail.

 

hmm i belive that this is bullshit, so what were the mayans supposed to do keep on with the calander......But at the rate of global warming i wouldent be surprised if earth can no longer support life. I give earth at a possible lifespan of about 500 if not shorter years left

I belive that doomsday will be in 2012 even acient history from long past civlations predicted the end would come in the year 2012 what i do not know is how there are many thoerys like the polar shift or that plant that ment to block the sun from us.

The Mayans were observers of the sky, and developed a calendar way more complex than the one we are using today. They didn't just pick a random date to end the calendar like some of you idiots said. And the calendar doesn't end, it continuously repeats itself. December 21, 2012 in the long count is 13.00.00.00.00., the next day is 13.00.00.00.01. It doesn't end. What will happen on the morning of that day is the sun will rise against the background of the Milky Way, which was thought by the Mayans to be the birth canal of the universe. So basically the sun is going to be "reborn", which is a 26,000 year cycle.

It's just a cycle, which is why the Aztecs, which based their calendar off the Mayans, made the 12' slab into a circle and not a straight line. I don't know, maybe some cataclysmic event will happen and this "rebirth" means that all the evil will be wiped off this planet and we start again. But if they Mayans knew with precision that this cleansing was coming, hmm I don't know, wouldn't you think they'd point it out somewhere?

 

The only reason "Doomsday" is on 2012 is because the Mayans who were creating this calendar died before they got past it. You all base the rumor on a story that was created by a group of people who died before they finished their project.

 

False - There has been many predictions, including the 1942 one and then 1944 by the same person, whom claimed to make a mistake.
Then Y2K, which also failed. I seriously doubt the end will come in 2012.
If it does, then I will, personally shit bricks.
