Rare items and their future.

Since the GE fluctuates depending on the users action IE, buying max price raises the price of an item, and buying lowest price lowers the item and its all (i think it is) player related.

Before the GE and all that fun stuff came out I remember a blue phat was well over 500M, santas 20M, red masks 30M, Blue phats are 300M now, santas 17M and red masks 22M.

Sure they are getting rarer get by year, but if there's a set price on them because of the G.E. why would ppl spend 16M on a santa when they can buy bandos plate or save for a god sword or D claws, since the GE came out, a majority of the rares have fallen since last Christmas, and I'm curious do you think around Halloween and Christmas they will sky rocket or lower more or just stay the same.

And yes I know since its player based on the price changing that it is really unknown weather or not it will go up.

 

Obviously the party hats will go up. Don't know about the other rares.

 

Why would they go up..? blue use to be over 500M now its 300M.. what makes you think it will go up?

 

I can tell that people have now idea what they are talking about when they post things like this... its supply and demand... more people will die with phats/just quit with them in bank.. they will all go back up...when jagex releases a new huge update...they will prob drop if mechscape is released. :nuts: happy because i own a red and a white and a few santas

 

I can only see them as going up... It's not a thing you can get as a drop and as people get banned/quit there are less and less in the game, so it should go up in price unless they do something faggy like re-drop them...

 

Party hats and Masks were an important part of duelling.
As soon as duelling went the prices crashed.
Duelling wont be coming back.
The prices wont be rising in the forseeable future.

 

You guys can't honestly think that in 5 years that discontinued items won't be higher. As others have said, there are no more, and there never will be any. More and more players will be able to afford them, but the supply will never rise. It will take awhile, but they will become basically unobtainable if we have enough rich players.

As for GWD equiptment, it's really a toss-up. Here you have the same situation of more rich players, but the supply will also be rising. As long as the amount of rich players out-paces the supply, they will rise.

Only time will tell, but I'm actually interested to see what all of these items are like in 5 years. However, by then, Bandos/ Armadyl may be 2nd or 3rd best.

 

You have to realize.. the GE fluctuates based on OUR purchases I don't see why people would waste $ on rares when you can get bandos, claws, GS's etc and the stats show MOST rares in the past 1-2 years have DROPPED and if more ppl quit bla bla bla it doesnt automatically raise the price on them cuz there is less of them.

 

yeah, same here. they will only go up b.c ppl lose and lose them, its not like ppl keep getting them so i see them rising. but thats my opinion

 

The price should only increase if that rare item dissapears, or stops from being made imo.
but merchants have the power to screw us over, it's starting to happen already..

Well the thing is rares no longer sell on the ge, now they sell player to player, and they don't sell for market value. Now if you want to buy a blue phat, you will buy the phat AND x number of mills in junk from the other player.

 

People pay for them for looks, collections, or for sentimental value.

 

btw it will only ever increase becuase more of the item cant come into the game only ht eitems can be lost , so less traded the price will rise

 

I don't expect for rares like phats/unwearables to go down anytime soon, but they will when Gayjex decides its time to.
