China bans Gold Farming

Well, interesting news:

Well, I expect places like USFine, and Gold4RS will use loopholes, but over all, this is just a notice to put up here.


Discuss: Is it right for China to outlaw something like this? Where are we headed, if making profit off of virtual goods is against the law?

If the Chinese really do crack down on the ban then I doubt we will have any easy means of attaining gold for Runescape.

Is making profit out of virtual goods against the law? No, it is a service provided and it is the same as other services people do, e.g. painting peoples houses or cleaning floors. They don't have any right to ban a service.

 

China won't be able to enforce/regulate the law.

That's harsh for all the people who made a living of farming.
Lot's of people will be out of job's for basically a stupid reason in which i cannot find a problem apart from selfish goverment.

They will make char's and sell them or something.

 

That would be harsh on the people who make a living out of goldfarming and all, but like they said it might only scare small shops...

 

This is a non-issue as enforcement of this law will cost too much money for the Chinese government. It is, however the politically correct action to take. China is trying to rub off the negative image it has in the world, so making this type of thing is illegal is a step towards that. They won't, however, enforce it.
