Yet again, there will be an amazing explanation for why I am wrong as usual.
    • Quotes (like sayings) exceed the maximum width? Doesn't that make anyone posting a single quote (quoted from the forums) violating the rule because it's too wide? Because it shows up like:

    • I honestly don't see why mines has to be spaced out into a block format because it doesn't fit the dimensions. However, there are people with tons of vouches and quotes in their signatures?
    • Sin's PM to me:
      • A mod didn't warn me (trust me, I don't care about the infraction I'm just trying to make a point). About the centering my text, doesn't that make putting anything in quotations here violating the rules?
    • I completely understand the issue with height, but width with text typed in here? If that's a problem make it so it can't exceed the 650 pixel width.
And you can't come down with a hammer on some users about it and a simple warning for others (you know what I'm talking about).

Are you stupid? Quotes are word-wrapped, meaning they fit to whatever your resolution is. Therefore, it's not a problem.

The rules on signature size are specific to images to stop inconvenient page stretching.

I don't believe I am stupid, how do I check for that?

    Explain how this is oversized:
People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within. - Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
    but this isn't...

I don't see the page stretching, because ironically... it doesn't. I know the point of not having a huge image, but text? If that's "too wide" having a quote around anything would make it too big.

The rule should be specific to images only, as text will not stretch the page. I probably misinterpreted your first post.

I'm in agreement with your point.

Alright. Darkgroove, when you come posting here, yes the signature was too tall with the words and button I know.

Can I mod please confirm or deny whether the size rule is in regards to images only or text and images? Thanks.

As the rule is stated, it specifies that the restriction applies to text as well as images. Hence why I said, if a mod told you to change it, I can't really say they're wrong. (Unless you really want to get technical, and argue that since the width of the text depends on the width of the window, your sig could not possibly have been 'too wide' since, with the window shrunk small enough, the sig wraps itself to the appropriate size. ;))

Honestly, text width is very rarely enforced, and again, I assume you were infracted mostly for the signature height. If you are over the size limit, the rule is pretty much, "infractable if bothersome".

I probably wouldn't have a problem changing the rule to apply only to images, as long as people don't find such sigs annoying. But, I don't see it a matter of extreme importance either; it's really not a lot to ask for people to press return on long quotations. Personally, I like your sig better as is.

Text width should mean nothing. I mean. Look at the damned sig I put up... But if you shrink the window it gets smaller... I think it would still be over the limit but... Its only text... I agree with Sin. If its annoying, its infractable...

So does that mean I can change it back or no? I just don't want to get re-infracted for it again. If it isn't of extreme importance either way, why can't I keep it the original way?

The infraction only gave me dimensions of my signature at the time (which included signature width [the text]).

Well, that's why I came to ask. I don't want another infraction because of someone's interpretation of the rule.

You got infracted because it was too tall. Your old signature was 445~ pixels high exceeding the limit by 95px (or 27%). I remember because DG was asking me about signature restrictions. So the infraction was warranted.

When I am infracting people for signature violations I tend to re-size my window to 475~ pixels wide and then measure the signature. This gives me a much more valid measurement because all the text is already wrapped.
